To all the do gooder koala touching folks out there , while ya celebrating just take a little bit of time to think of the family's who've been screwed over by this before ya jump up and down and pat ya selves on your worthless dole bludging backs. I'll see ya I hell hopefully.

Sad times ahead Bjay I hope everyone in that area is looking out for each other. If your doing it tough just sing out and I and many others on PA will do what we can.

it should never have happened like this. it was supposed to be wound down by 2030 with time to phase in an alternative. but no dan needed to suck up to the greenies to try and shore up his flaging support

There's no need to get abusive. It wasn't 'do gooder koala touching folks' (whoever they might be) that closed it, it was the owners because it wasn't profitable to run any more and would cost too much too upgrade.

Not sad at all at the moment, most people I know hasn't hit em yet. As I said before if and when we we have power blackouts don't blame the government just blame to do gooding mis informed minority who don't want any industry in this once great country of ours. All they want is for all of us to knit jumpers and make jam and sing koombyah.

The greenies didn't close Hazelwood - the foreign owners did because it was well past it's use-by date and now needed amongst other things crucial work to be done to the steam boilers to be allowed (by Work Safe) to continue operating. Please dont twist and misrepresent that truth.....

Very true but this has been a know fact for a long time that these works needed to be done. There has been an offer to buy the place but was totally overlooked. The thing that ***** me to tears is that they knew about this over a year ago. Just don't like seeing the greens groups gloating about people loosing jobs and livelihoods as apparently to some lead beaters possums are more important than people.

All good for the government to spend how many billions on the snowy upgrade which hasn't raised an eyelid yet. Just wait for the red bellied fat tailed flying gudgeon that has been found to only exist in ones green grand hour of enlightenment.

........... and yes I'm just as angry as you - the utility should never have been privatised actually, I can remember back at the time when it was privatised and the wide spread puzzlement of why any prospective buyer would ever consider Hazelwood a worthwhile investment given that it was so close to the end of it's design life. As it stands now the owners (the French Government) are up for billions of dollars to rehabilitate the site but somehow it appears that they're not compelled by the original sale agreement to provide a replacement facillity - yes i'm angry too!

Sorry it can be easy to lay blame but a very complex issue :D I'm ok but worried about a few people I know

All done we shall move on to greener pastures and forget about the fact that a whole lot of people haven't just lost jobs but also there identity. Sorry to all for my rants but needed to get **** off my chest. Thank you for your time. :|

At the very least what the Vic and federal governments should have done is give them tax breaks to keep it running for another two years till the snowy plant upgrade was operational, (that will have roughly the same output)
