Hi guys,
I don't think this is the right spot for this thread, but couldn't find the right place...
I've been working in an area that was mined for gold around 100 years ago... The other day I crossed a small stream and noticed small sparkles of what I assume is gold in the stream... I was wondering what the best way to try and collect these specks would be - assuming they are gold.

Cheers

Get a small spade or shovel and a gold pan. Put the dirt in the pan and pan it out. If its gold it will be in the pan. Most of the time people see mica on the bottom of flowing creeks. It shimmers like gold. Best way to check is look at the material from different directions of light.. gold will look the same from all angles. Mica or fools gold will reflect on one direction but not another. Hope that makes sense

Also take a pair of pliers and squeeze it. if it breaks, it's mica, if it flattens, it's gold.
