Here's my stone on Barney's machine, went around for an afternoon beer and a yak. Plus a couple of Garnets he cut recently, fantastic looking stones, the photo does them no justics at all. Should hopefully get a 1 carat finished stone from my Sapphire, it wasn't the perfect shape and had a few minor probs but it's half done and looking great.

Bloody awesome heatho and barney, nice looking faceting machine! Its a prick to try and get a decent photo half way into cutting isn't it! I can see the triangulation clearly though and it looks like its coming along great :)

Barneys cuts are amazing as well, they have a great deep illusion to them and wonderful color

Yeah mate, he's very good at it and a top bloke as well, he's very enthusiastic about it all. I think the machine is an Ultratec.

The first time we met up was after organising it through this forum and he said then he was keen to learn faceting, well a couple of years later.... this is where he's at. :)

Woow, those stones look great. I hope that I can end up with a couple as good as that.

Just to add to that great list the latest and greatest: 'Amateur gemstone faceting" by Tom Herbst

http://www.facetingbook.com/books.html

It was only about $70 for both books shipped to Oz brand new last year (print on demand). Excellent read, a light hearted but very educational book. 5 *****'s.

Well I am starting to consider that the gems I sent over to Lamberts may have become a donation.... . I have not heard anything from them telling me if they have received them or not. I have sent a couple of emails to them and to date, No reply.
..
Oh well, a good reason to get back out there to find some more... :D

Don't worry they will get back to you, they have about a 3 month turn around time.....

While I facet the larger ones, my father sends plenty of smaller ones over to Lamberts. They have never failed to come back, though they typically take a good three months.

When the political unrest was going on over there, he got a letter from Lamberts saying something to the effect of "yes, people are getting shot and blown up but don't worry - your stones are perfectly safe with us" :)
