Getting a valuation is SA ?

G'Day Guys

I have what I think is a diamond & have tried to get it valued so I can get it insured.

It passes light passing thru test, fog test and scratch test.

It is

2.5cm x 2cm V shaped

It weighs 7.4 Grams

and my cheapo Chinese scales says its 37 Carats

I have rung and emailed a few companies in SA & they dont return calls of emails.

Can anyone recommend someone in SA to contact about this ?

I have read conflicting messages about selling gems in SA.

Anyone sold any gems in SA ?

I have been in to see a couple of these retailers, the 1st one said it was quartz & then offered me 5K in new $100 bills.

They we not very interested in answering my questions, just wanted to know how I 'came by it', 'will you sell it', 'what offers you have had' etc.

I want someone who is not 'retail', preferably with a Degree in Gemmology who is a member & has been for 10+ years of Gemmological Association of Oz

Melbourne has 2 labs that can certify, grade and evaluate it for you. Theres also another diamond grading lab in sydney that will do the same. Theyre your best bet
