Not being allowed to express your opinion anymore is un-Australian as long as your able to do it diplomatically, and your not outright abusive which I dont think anyone here has been.
The word unstable was used.....wow!

Anyone who puts themselves 'out there' online hoping to be a star or a cult figure, will always be fair game.

You cant please everyone, some will like you, others wont, its just life.

Im sure the general is a good bloke, and thats just how he expresses himself, but Im also sure he is a big boy and any criticism he gets will go in one ear and out the other.

This is a great forum but thats just what it is, a forum where free speech and stimulating conversation with others is possible (within the rules). Agreeable or not.

I know where your coming from Wal but Im sure no harm was meant!

"No harm was meant", and that is a phrase I hear far too often, usually by those who have made a negative or derogatory comment about somebody or something in the first place. Not saying anything wrong has been said "yet",....but let your so called "Freedom of Speech" run unchecked and human nature being what is, will inevitably end up showing you its dark side. Just punch in the words "Religion" or "Politics" into a conversation and see where it leads you.

People put themselves "Out There" for many reasons on YouTube, and in most cases its "not" to be a "star or cult figure". It's to share their experiences with others, and showcase what their particular hobby can offer to others, who may be getting into it for themselves.

I have also heard the comments "I'm sure he's a big boy, and it will go in one ear and out the other".....unfortunately these comments don't sit well with me.... Plenty of people out there committing suicide who didn't believe in that theory either.

I agree with you this is a great forum, and stimulating conversation is paramount in making it enjoyable, but I still stand by my belief that it should never criticize someones "personality", no matter how "free" you want your speech to be. Again my own personal opinion.

I also disagree with his comments regarding Victorians.....But if you spend some time reading the abuse he gets from "several"other forums, you might understand the retaliation.....everyone makes mistakes including Hercs, it's part of being human, but individual mistakes can be compounded if respect for humanity isn't observed.

I know nothing of the events, or what was said to create the original altercation, but as an outsider I'd leave the dispute to those involved, and not publically judge either's character.

he is a lovely bloke. he doesn't hate anyone in reality, just people who do the wrong thing. I do know he despises unfilled holes and rubbish. great operator with a lot of knowledge. he can be considered a bit over the top especially if you have a thin skin, most of his pxxs takes are in good humour, usually just to get a reaction. a smart bloke - he is one of the very few people I know who can use the word FXXX as a noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, proper noun, comma, semi-colon, full stop and exclamation mark in one sentence.

He made me laugh, he may come across as a little over the top but would be a great character to bump into for a beer around the camp fire, he makes you want to watch the whole video to see what happens, it's better than someone with no personality that you switch off from boredom.

Have you actually met him?? Very generalized observation that is in context, quite true regardless.

You are very correct in your observation that it is "Our" forum, and that is why you are entitled to your opinion and I am equally entitled to mine. Your ignorance in what "you" call "Good Business Sense" astounds me, as what has been said is opinion based only and has nothing to do with "Business".

Nobody is telling members to go to another forum. The fact that I may not agree with you, in your opinion of how people should be treated, is my prerogative, and doesn't necessarily need your respect. If you would like to debate "what is good business sense", I'm more than happy to do that via the PM system.

Like I said earlier, I don't know the guy, but I do know quite a lot about "Bullying", and for your information, "Good Business Sense",.... in my book you can't put the two into the same sentence. Regarding forums going broke one member at a time....the same can be said about encouraging members to entertain conflict with fellow prospectors.

How good is it when we can all have our own opinions.
