Heatho ,,,

Throw one detector away mate
Which one will it be

GPX 5000. Or. SDC 2300

And the winner is?

Ahhh hell to be honest I'd ditch the 5k mate. Was going to write a whole heap but everything has already been mentioned in SDC threads.

For someone wanting to ping a few nugs with minimum fuss it's awesome.

SDC wins for what I'm doing.

Just got back from 4 days in the bush.. I use the CTX for mainly coins in Parks, Gardens etc and I am totally happy with it. I want to purchase either a SDC or an ATX to search for Gold? mainly around S>A> with a few trips to Vic and Queensland. My original post was to get opinions on either of the 2 machines. I have the opportunity of getting a friend in USA to purchase and send to me The ATX at a savings of around $1000 but I would rather buy the SDC here in Aust. to support our economy,if the SDC is the superior machine for our conditions. I can but have not searched at the Beach at this stage with the CTX. I have the waterproof coil. All of the posts have been very informative. Thanks Trev

Just finished reading all of the posts and I am leaning strongly towards the CTX Thanks to everyone for their input. Trev

Heatho.. ...ditch the 5000  ...give me first offer... :)

That was theoretical Wal, if I had to ditch one of them. :)

I know the 5000 is still the best, it's just that the SDC is so so easy, have you had the chance to use one yet? I'm interested in your thoughts on the unit also.

If I do sell the 5k I'll let you know first.

There is no way I would ditch a 5000 for a 2300.
We have both and they compliment each other and are designed and used by us for totally different functions.
I thought about getting rid of the 2200 but after last week in the Triangle, and being taken to an 8 acre paddock
I realize I need that too.

Sounds like to have to decide on how/where you wish to detect.

Can't catch trout on a game rod, nor marlin on a fly rod.

Trevor111, if gold is what your after then the SDC 2300 is the one for you for sure. What the fellow's have said about this machine in the previous posts is all true. If you don't mind the extra money, i am sure you will be very happy with this machine and you have also gave your self the best possible chance of finding gold out of any machine on the market. :)

Amen, and it was only one Topic and I am sure there will be thousands where we stand side by side all the way. and if we all thought the same then we would not need a forum, Fresh Ideas and a different point of view helps us to explore every Avenue,

I'm glad your views are different to mine on some things, Because then I can Learn something, It don't get better than that,

Take Care

Here's some of my recent finds from the (no more gold left, can't get in anywhere, thrashed ;) ) Adelaide Hills

My goodness Nenad you got that set up just right congrats great job,

You know I think theres a lot to be said for these lesser machines as opposed to the 5000 in the respect of they are perfect for searching out New sites and they are great for finding smaller gold and the plus is not having to run programs/menu's,

it seems a killer on small gold, that's for sure,

weldone Mate.

That's amazing - I had read elsewhere, from an ex South Aussie, some disbelief that you were finding gold there that he couldn't with his GPX. Reckons he "prospected" there for 10 years for very little & that gold couldn't just be suddenly turning up. You must know something he doesn't like where the on switch is & the funny flat, round thing goes towards the ground
