They diagnosed my gall bladder was "sludged up" and had to be removed. On the way to hospital the morning it was removed, I laid the seat back in the car to try and ease pain. Never before and hopefully never again will I experience such intense pain, was delirious on arrival at hospital.
Was up having a shower a few hours after surgery, would have gone home if they let me.

Don't mess about Goodie2, don't put it off even if pain eases, as mentioned it is not needed for a normal life.

Been having a lot of problems with my gallbladder for quite awhile now..

The doctor told me that I have a handful of stones and a lot of slugs in my gallbladder...

I gave him a funny look and promptly said I have not eaten any stones or slugs as since I was a child so how can they still be in there??

The doctor told me that all my heart pain is coming from the gallbladder...

People have told me about gallbladder attacks and what to expect ...but nothing like this..

Yesterday I had a big gallbladder attack...

I through I was going to pass out...

Felt like someone had thrown a bucket of water all over me..

Grabbing my self where the gallbladder is...

Felt like I was going to mess my pants

Felt as if I was going to vomit

Heart beating to fast...

Had to lay down before I fell down...

Was getting a tad concern about myself...

If I did not know that I had gallbladder problems and from what others have told me I would of through that my number was up...

Will be so glad when it is removed...

Gallbladder stones can form from high oxalate containing foods like various nuts, spinach and many more. They are also result of low Calcium intake in the diet. Calcium binds with oxalates and in that way they get out trough the gut. You can live without gallbladder yes, but you will have difficulties digesting some foods as a consequence.
The way to resolve this is trough proper diet.
Stop all alcohol, all added sugars. Reduce carbohydrates to below 50 grams per day. This means no grain foods, no potatoes, no bread or anything else containing starch. No coffee, no chocolates. Chocolates are especially high in oxalates and of course sugar. Increase cheese intake as it is a main source of Calcium. Check your vitamin D levels. If low get some supplement and increase intake of cholesterol containing foods like eggs.
You will need a good pile of lettuce and cruciferous vegetables to assure proper nutrient intake your body needs.

How do I know all this? Simpe. I suffer the same crap and had to learn the hard way.

You can watch many videos from this You Tube channel from Dr. Eric Berg. Great guy.

I asked my surgeon if I should take any dietary precautions after I had my gallbladder removed and she said no. For about three months I would get a bit of pain after eating ice cream or creamy meals but that settled down and my diet is now back to normal. I do eat too much sugar but apart from that my diet is healthy and I am not overweight.

I have to lose weight because of my back pain...

When I go for a walk my back kills me and my right leg go Numb... Plus I get some pain in the gallbladder...

So I have become lazy because of feeling sick all the time,

So I am hoping when I have my gallbladder out I will start to feel better and start doing more thing's,

I have been trying to lose weight but it is very hard ..

I had given up a few time's...

But it is bloody well time I got back some of my life,

Been fighting a lot of crap in my life...

Post op, was and am back to living without a gall bladder. Just the opposite to what you say Candigger, enjoy a normal diet with everything you say not to eat so I suppose everyone is different.Slurping my second morning double strength coffee as I write and tonight will enjoy a bar of chocolate and a few drinks.

I can drink coffee with out it hurting me..

Some fatty food's seam to hurt,

Stress seam's to make it play up more than anything...

Alcohol... I don't no ...as I can not remember the last time I had a drink....

But will find out soon as I will be having some drink's over Easter...

Thank you for everyone advice

Goody :)

Had mine out in 2007. It was after I had it out where the real 'fun' began. I instantly became intolerant to most food and dropped down to 49 Kg at my worst.

Took about four years for the guts to come good. Some types of food still kick me around, but I have learned what to avoid nowdays.

Geez goody, I didnt know the gall bladder could cause so much pain and trouble and that the problem seems to be a common one. :(

All the best for your op in a few weeks hope you get the best result possible and can live pain free afterwards. :flowers:

This thread has made me take stock of my own dietary bad habits and theyre plentiful, before I could head down the same painful road.

I definitely need to make some lifestyle changes.

Good thread goody, sharing your pain experiences has woken me up!!

I would not wish it on anyone Ms Flowerpot..

It seems that there are a lot of body part's one can happily live with out...

I through the pain in my back would be the worse pain I would feel...

All the painkillers help

But the gallbladder is another thing in it's self,

The painkillers I take for my back hurt my gallbladder to a point...

Buggered if I do and buggered if I don't,

With out the painkillers for my back I struggle to walk,

I'm going to start walking at nights for 30 minutes ...

I no that don't sound much but with my back and leg going Numb, it is a start...

Will build up the walking as time go on..

I feel that it is a start to get my health back on track...

Exercise and diet ...

Goody :)

I'm really sorry to hear you're going through this awful pain, Goody. Fingers crossed the surgery goes ahead and makes a big improvement for you.

Perhaps with your back and leg problem, swimming might be a better choice of exercise? Gentle action in water might be better than walking.

All the best, :flowers:
Megsy
