Also found the cable available in australia but the price of $205 is a bit prohibitive.I bought this Garmin Etrex 12 channel GPS recently. It's a 1999 model. It came with no cord to plug into a laptop. Does anyone have a spare cord they want to sell? Or, the same type of GPS and cord they want to sell. wiley.View attachment 9631View attachment 9632View attachment 9633I
Nope, just USB plugs on that one, for a later-model Garmin. This might be what you are after on EBay
There not a very good gps I had one and many tried to set it and did not have much luck but it was burnt in my vehicle when it was stolen so I up graded the new one with maps and it works well and easy to setHere's a brand new Etrex in a sealed package on eBay. As the description at the bottom shows, both the PC interface cable and the 12V adaptor cable were sold separately as "accessories", so won't necessarily be included with a used Etrex either.

He will still need to obtain https://www.ja-gps.com.au/garmin/etrex-pc-serial-cable to connect to the proprietary Etrex connectorTry Jaycar USB to RS232 cable. Have same GPS and works fine with such a cable. May need FTDI driver which should install automatically on later operating systems.
By the time you've faffed around with the above complications for linking an obsolete GPS with your laptop, I reckon you'd be better off buying this unused modern one that only needs an ordinary mini-USB cable to hook it up to a computer:I bought this Garmin Etrex 12 channel GPS recently.
