Hi Dan
Are we making new plans for school curriculums yet in response to the disruption caused by Coronavirus ?
We are at the end of March now , the school year is likely to be disrupted for at least 2 - 3 months more which wipes out the school year so we will need to have every school year repeating in 2021.
It is inevitable now that our only option at this point is to prepare infrastructure for online studies with a modified content that will require a 50 % focus on academic and 50 % of the curriculum being focussed on the following ;
Teaching on self help and discipline related to virus related hygiene.
Guidance and observation of physical exercise and sporting activities.
Guidance and observation of mental and emotional health.
Awareness and response to domestic violence including a likelihood of teenage rebellion against parents.
Could we utilise online content through tablets / Ipads and also introduce a TV channel dedicated to education for each age group in each state ?
Non academic content has to be included to "round out" student's mental development during the year to make up for the lack of a classroom environment where a teacher and other students would traditionally serve as behavioural and activity role models.
If every school in the country (except for school of the air) has to repeat the school year in 2021 then the first year of primary school will also require a 100 % increase in teacher numbers and classrooms.
What ideas can your talented people find to get on this early and effectively for the best outcome ?
We need to get some predictive analysis rolling on this ASAP and plan the response strategies accordingly.
thankyou
