I can honestly say I have seen that done with an axe to a beautiful looking GT HO when I was about 17 years old. I had a mate whose next older brother, found their oldest brother in bed with his wife (I can remember her, she was a beautiful looking gal too). The brother who did the dirty deed owned a shining beautifully kept pale blue GT HO falcon that he loved dearly and had spent a lot of money on. He'd parked it in the backyard of my mates house while he was inside cheating with the other brothers wife, thinking they were safe because her husband was a Diesel train driver who did rural and interstate runs. Except, for some reason he came home earlier than expected and caught them at it, walked straight back outside to the shed and picked up the axe. But he had the good sense to not come back inside with it like they thought he would.

I got there the morning after, and there in the backyard was the shining GT HO with multiple axe wounds cut into every panel, with it finally left with the handle poking out of the smashed windscreen. My mate said that as it happened, the dirtbag brother watched on in horror through the kitchen window as his beloved car got trashed, not daring to go outside to stop him. He said his cheated on brother shouted at him through the window- "You've destroyed what I loved the most, now you can watch me destroy what you love the most!" I've never seen anything like it since and I don't want to, it ripped that whole family apart..... :N: :(

Would this happen to be the one? Just sold for a lazy $400K, still with the axe wounds!

That is freaking amazing Sanguine!! Thing is, there were no dents, but gaping axe-head length cuts in it all over, including a couple in the bonnet which from memory had gone through bad enough to do some damage to the engine underneath (We are talking about 40 years ago here so I can only go from memory). Having said that, the dents may be what is left after the axe holes have been filled? Probably has had some amateur bodywork done to it, as from memory I'm sure it was the palest of light blue in color, rather than the white color it looks in that photo on the website.

There can't be too many GTHO's out there with Vic number plates that have suffered an Axe Attack, so I'd say it would have to be the one. Deceased estate huh? Looks like the dirtbag brother got his come-uppance. Looks like the "inexplicable" has been Explained. :argh:

Ironic it says "The unloved car found some love at auction". It was loved alright, very much so- which was the reason it was the object of the other brothers anger and revenge, after having what was so dear to him ruined. :brokenh:

Well spotted mate :Y:

Is this the one Deepseeker?

1971 Ford Falcon GTHO Phase III sells for $400,000: 'attacked with an axe, no engine, bring trailer' | CarAdvice
https://www.caradvice.com.au/890650...attacked-with-an-axe-no-engine-bring-trailer/

Oooops.
Just noticed Sanguine posted it.

I find that absolutely spooky, that after all these years it's listed at the same time I mention it. I hadn't even told Mrs Deepseeker about that as it was so, so long before I met her. The funny thing is, in my mind I distinctly remember it as a very pale blue car. Although, I guess after 40 yrs that could be wrong. After Sanguine posted I did a search to see if I could find anything more on the story, and there was a write-up on a new Zealand website about the same auction sale.

The funny thing is though, the photo it showed as the GTHO sold at auction was a different car again, as it had a different number plate. It also mentioned the late owner, and it wasn't the guy with the same family name that I remember, and yet they stated that the car had only ever had one original owner (although, it wouldn't be the first time a car has been sold as "One owner only!").

It was interesting too that they mentioned it had been used in its later life for drag racing. The guy I knew was a bit of a hot head at times when talking about the abilities of cars. The mother of the family had a boyfriend who had a beautiful looking Ford Mustang (the biological father of the kids had died some years before I met my mate). I distinctly remember an argument in the lounge room once that got heated when some idiot asked which of the two cars would be faster?- The Mustang or the GTHO. I remember one of them shouting CUBES COUNT!!!, and the dirtbag brother getting narky and wanting to drag with the Mustang dude out in the street right there and then. It ended with the mother intervening and shutting them down. Boys and their toys!

Back in the 70's / 80's the Police Vehicles in Qld use to be painted in that Pale Blue/Whitish colour,

I know a lot over newer cars are faster even ordinary family sedans but Nothing today has that brutal Wallop from the shear Grunt of a GTHO, They were a car that needed a driver who knew how to get the best out of them and who wasn't afraid to make use of the Noisy Pedal,

I sort of lost interest in cars when I came over here but a Picture of a GT or any Aussie Cars from that era reignite the flame in me :inlove: :inlove: :inlove:
