Alright, Im back! Im determined to get out on a hunt this weekend!

Ive relocated upto mt.barker way, if anyone is keen to go for a hunt on the Sunday perhaps? Ill shout the beers afterward!

I cant wait to get back into it, I joined a few Facebook groups with the intention of selling my 400i and maybe upgrading to a 3030 in the future... but seeing all the finds pics reignited the fire in my to get out there and hunt!

Got no idea about spots in my new hood so Im gonna just have to wing it

Send me a pm if youre local/nearby mt barker and maybe we can give her a red hot crack!

Might break out the tecta tonight after work and hit my new back garden before I lay turf, it used to be a farmers field so well so how we go!

:D

As expected, just a bunch of left over building crap

But I did find this on the walk home from the bus stop :D so Im going to chalk hunt #32 while extremely short, a win lol

Fees good to be back, going to hit the local park up tomorrow for a good 2-3 hours, hopefully I have some luck

Took a stab in the dark for hunt #33, just moved to a new area just just hit the closest reserve with the oldest looking trees, did not have much success over the 2 hours, just a bunch of can slaw and a few decimal currencies:

Now before anyone berates me, I saw this sign on the way out:

If I had any idea the park was a memorial to people and even had a body buried there, I would never have detected, as a result of seeing the sign, Ill never go back there! Thank god I didnt detect near the sundial, seeeeesh!

Good to see you back, plenty of good spots to detect in the hills around your area, especially if you can find some river/creek side spots that were frequented back in the day. ;)

I just managed to score permission on a site which used to house a post office in the 1860s!

Hoping to get there this Saturday!

Good luck with your permission, will be interesting to see what turn up. :Y:

Went out for 4-5 hours today for hunt #34, I hit the first one of my permissions about 75km out of Adelaide

The ground was a very sandy loose soil which surprised me actually, and there was soooo much trash in the ground.

I mainly stuck around here:

Unfortunately I pulled absolutely nothing of intrest out of the soil:

It was a good experience, meeting some new people who were more than happy to share the history of the place with me and show me some early 1900s photos! Unfortunately it just wasnt my day!

Ive got a day off Monday so Ill be back at it, possibly at one of my other permissions, or I might just go to a local park!

Just got back home, time for a local drop

Just a PSA for the SA members here, a few of my permissions (the larger ones) I asked the land owner if it was okay if I bought a friend along, all of them had no problem with it, now I dont have any mates that detect but Id be more than happy to take along some of the regulars here, given theyre very respectful of the land owner and the privilege weve been given.

Send me a message if youre interested!

Used my day off today to scratch around on hunt #35, tried out a few random reserves near home.

Didnt have much luck in the way of pre decimals, and only found 1x brown bugger, but I walked away with $12.25 more than I walked in with haha! heres the lot anyway:

Old pen knife, buckle, and a whooole bunch of aluminium

Best find of the day:

Wasnt a bad day, shame I couldnt get my first silver of the year though, just need to find the right spot!

Cheers!

I had another rostered day off from work today, originally I was just gonna relax at home, but I couldnt help myself and went out for hunt #36!

Chose to go down to the local river and give it a fair crack, spent 5 hours down there and left when my swinging arm was about to fall off!

Meagre finds today:

If I was looking for ring pulls, pull tabs and bottle tops it wouldve been a fantastic day

This is a particularly nasty bugger though:

Until next time!

Went out for 2 hours after work today for hunt #37 after finding a pretty good map for my local area which tells me which land is public, prior to this it was hard to tell what was public and what was private:

Me and the missus are down to one car at the moment so I cant drive out to any of my permissions at the moment, so I chose somewhere within walking distance and I was off!

Stumbled across an area with abit of potential I think, found 3 pennies, so at least I know people were there in the right era! Im pretty sure I saw the raft slab of an old house there too! Heres the lot:

Two of the pennies were in one hole, gave me a cracking signal of 96!

Ill 100% be heading back there when I have a chance! Its got to have a silver for me! :)

Cheers guys

Ohhh I love Mount Barker! I stayed at someone's house a couple of years ago. They had many acres and horse, many giant sheds and old cars...And away from city life... Very very lucky! I wish I can have that kind of luxury. :Y: :Y: :Y: :Y:

Government recently rezoned large areas of land from agricultural to residential, so a few farmers sold off their land and made an absolute fortune! Thousands of more houses have popped up, I live in one of the new developments, so no such luck for me with the country lifestyle on my 600sqm block, but it was the only place I could afford to buy land, too expensive in Adelaide!

I have a real special treat of a permission Im going to this Sunday!

I finally found some information on it and I just couldnt wait to share it with you guys!

Private land which has the ruins of an old 1800s house on it, what makes this out of the ordinary is that it the original owner who now has the near by road named after her was unfortunately murdered in 1884!

Heres an excerpt from the newspaper South Australian weekly chronicle, Saturday June 21st 1884

1550721722_43cb8189-129d-4cd6-927f-b5da89b2728d.jpg

Heres an excerpt from the Sydney evening news, Saturday August 9th 1884 showing one Mr. John Woodhead acquitted of the murder!

1550722115_28175cf7-c5b3-49a6-a51a-e195591cd145.jpg

As far as I can tell at this point, no one was ever charged for the murder of Margaret Peggy Buxton! WOW! What an absolute honour and privilege to be able to detect such a site!

Sunday cant come quick enough!

Best believe if my detector starts doing some bizarre stuff I am out of there as fast as my legs can carry me! Sheesh! :p
