I am not a smoker but I understand addiction. If they really cared about people's health why would they tax a more healthy alternative ? Its almost like they have an addiction to revenue or something.

Smoking cigarettes in Australia is an expensive habit. In fact, at around $35 for a pack of 20, Australia's cigarettes are the most expensive in the world.

I used to smoke a 50 pack every day & sometimes more when boozing with the boys on the weekends , I did switch to rollies later to try & save money but they also started to get far to expensive so started vaping a few years back .

Vaping nicotine was so cheap ' I wont be returning to Super Taxes Cigarettes :argh:

Prices I can only dream of. Because of location, fifty bucks for 25.
Stuffed up the other day, sent someone off to buy me a six pack of VB (different island). Forty fekking eight dollars for six VB. Geez, they tasted good though.

Back in the day the government used to say they hated cannabis smoking as it it would lead to harder drugs that would cost more money and send people to poverty.

My, how things have changed. Apparently high prices help people break their habit (according to the government) So does that mean those smack dealers from way back were really health savvy by employing high prices or has the government today become a monopolizing drug dealing fraternity they were protecting us from yesterday?

The gossip I heard is the gov will double cigarette prices in September...
I vaped for a couple of years but had trouble with the moisture once I went back smoking the lungs cleared up.
If the powers that be have a toss they would put all their attention to getting hard drugs out of Australia, the world's over populated they should be encouraging smoking.

I'm hooked on breathing clean air nowadays.
One breath after another oxygen comes to us from plants.... if you have to... you can grow a plant or two for the planet... even if they are big leafed tobaco plants

Maybe a grey area if seeds plants and cured leaf is not excisable..

But to grow is to produce or cause to bring forth..... and they say you need a liscence for that.

But I guess it would get back to constitutional law where they would need to prove that queen Elizabeth 2nd had in fact endorsed such law in the first place.

Maybe the wild Australian plant would be best as it's not tobacco.(is it)?

Been tobacco busts around here , the penalties are heaps bigger than dope plants..apparently its tax evasion and all sorts of things.

Jail for growinh tabaco and a fine for growing marijuana.

50 gram packet of tobacco is 104 dollars at local IGA, almost 120 at any garage, smoking 2 packs a week is over 10k a year the price of a mine lab 7000 , and the start of July there is another 10 or 12 percent increase , look at the price of grog no wonder people try ice its cheaper.

Not that I am a smoker anymore...but if there was any truth to that saying about each cigarette takes 5 minutes off your life then by rights I should have died somewhere around mid September 1852
