I'm selling my awesome Feroza up until a week ago if ran like a dream but since then it's started running on only 3 cylinders number 4 cylinder is not working iv checked lead and plug but they seem to b working fine could b a valve or may need a new motor I'm not sure it still runs and you could drive it home if wanted to just running really rough..so I'm selling as is with no reg I'm taking the plates off For $1000 or $1400 with plates and six months reg

...the Feroza has good muddys on it and the spare is brand new also has a new clutch .its been lifted not sure how much but it's perfect the way it is ..and has a great sound system in it speekers sub and amp ..its convertible great to drive with top off in summer elecric windows everything works except aircon it's an awesome prospecting vehicle

. It passed a road worthy about 8 months ago ...few scratches and little dents all over all it's in really good condition apart from the motor .anything you want to know feel free to call or text ..cheers XXXXXXXXXX I'm in Victoria

Hi mate, don't take this personally I'm just trying to help.

How did you check the lead and plug ? Did you check the distributor cap for cracks as well ? Are there any bubbles coming out of the radiator with the radiator cap off when the engine is running if so cracked head or blown head gasket.
Is it using water/coolant, is the radiator low on coolant, or is there water in the sump in other words when you pull the oil dipstick out does it look whitish in colour ? Any of these would indicate a blown head gasket. Did the motor get very hot on the temperature gauge at any stage ? If so Possible warped head and even more damage to the motor eg. softened piston rings, scored cylinder bores and pistons = excessive oil use. Have you done a wet and dry compression test on the engine? On the bright side it's got good tires.
 
I drove the car an hour home and it didn't over heat just ran really rough when I got home I checked the plugs and leads they worked fine but number 4 piston was not firing next morning I drove it to my machanic and got him to check it for me after checking few things and a compression test he told me it's a valve or rings are gone ....lately it was burning more oil then usual but there's no water in oil or oil in water ..also doesn't blow smoke which makes me think it could b a valve ...cheers wishfull ..

I had the same problem with a Landrover Freelander, it turned out to be a bent valve, easy job to fix, but it had just had the head done by the previous owners mechanic and had a total of $6000 spent on it plus what I spent, so I sent it to the wreckers, that was the end of that.

if it is a valve sometimes the valve clearance has closed up and not letting the valve close properly.. check and reset the clearances and it may go again.. a good way to tell if it is rings put some oil in the cylinder and there will be a big rise in the compression reading if its worn rings..(usualy smokey as well) :)

can you please provide more details and pics, any engine bay pics and back interior , also can you please tell me if it`s diesel or petrol , how many km`s ?
