Flowerpots Equinox 800 Finds

Forgot to show how the medallion turned out after final clean. Its pretty good really, considering how it was.

Today I took the exuinox and went for a hunt over at an old house in our paddock, just before dark, to try out my new gummy plugger, made for me by Muk. (I love it, its bloody sharp) :Y: :Y:
Only got in half an hour, but with the rain it was easy to dig.
Found a 2 cent piece, a button, lead, bullets, harmonica reed and a broken piece of brass or copper jewellery missing the stone and junk.
There are many, many signals, so back I go tomorrow for a scratch around.

Back to the old house for an hour.
Found a couple of sinkers as the dam used to be bigger I believe. Found $1.45 in really tarnished coins.
More trash and a 1962 sixpence. I only covered a small area too. Lots more potential yet.
Weve only lived here for 20 years.
Thinking maybe I should have got more serious about coin and relic hunting a wee bit sooner.
Anyhow my finds:

The little piece of broken jewellery I dug up yesterday has the word GILT on the underside, no idea what that means.

This is the whats left of the old house.

An old barn too

Lots of paddock with bare ground at the moment between the old house, the barn and the fence line but the cape weed is just starting to shoot, so Ill keep hunting before it grows too much.

The barn is just to the left, the old house is under the pines and my detector and where I detected is to the right in front of the wattle along the fence line. Soooooo much area and this paddock is about 10acres. Busy me, haha.

Oh thats cool thanks Dave, it does look a little bit goldish.

Too right Nucopia, thanks it is cool recovering lost history... and at the moment the ground is clear and soft, so its easy going. Its Win, win. Just got to find some ripper things... fingers crossed.

Jim, yes, yayyyy, I have got my mojo back, but it took a while and the easier coin/relic hunts in my own back yard have sure made it come back. :Y:

First ever beach hunt today on the east coast.
100% crap, oop: x :100:
as in bottle caps, ringpulls, a can, a piece of lead and a piece of copper junk jewelley, thats been in the sand a while as its pretty crusty.
Anyway, it was fun.

:lol: Get used to finding those crusty 'thingys' on the beach. It will all be worth it when a sparkly gold thing pops out of the sand. Be warned, gold rings sound and ID very much like ringpulls on the equinox so keep digging everything.

Ive pulled up in places (WA) & spent half an hour picking up peoples crap & then been so over it Ive just gone for a swim & not bothered pulling the detector out .... not that our beaches away from city areas have much of value anyway.

Hi Booney, the old house was built by the Giles family and the house we live in now (across the creek) was built by their son. The part of the house thats left in the paddock, is the kitchen area, that had an old stove, but that was taken by the son when we bought the place. The lady of the house would cook the meal and then take it across to the dining room which was a seperate part of the house no longer standing. The old couple we bought the place from did show us some family photos of the old house and how it used to look.
The barn, they told us did house the shire horses..? but twenty years ago I did not ask enough questions, as to what that meant exactly.
It is collapsing in on itself slowly over the passing years tho.
Anyhoo, there is a tonne of history there for me to unearth. Just got to get Mr Pot onboard too, to help, haha.

Felt like I was helping to clean the beach today Ded, if nothing much else...
My tiny bit might help.
Mr Pot was worried someone would come over the dunes and have a crack about me digging in the sand near the flora...
I wasnt digging any plants up geeeez. Wouldnt even.

Shire horses are a British breed of a draught horse and are supposed to be the biggest and tallest horses in the world . Maybe used for farm work ? you might be able to chase some history through the shire horse society of Australia it's a long shot . Cheers Booney
