Thanks heaps Goldpick, spoke to my local RSL today but they said they can't do much other than refer me to the national archives in the city. Wonder why it has 1940 on the badge but his enlistment is 1942?

Must of been dropped when new Heatho, cheers
 
Probably had a big lot made up in preparation for retirees and injured personnel being sent home, so they could wear them proudly and not get slipped a white feather after drinking down the pub(maybe). :)
 
Cheers guys, its very nice on both sides. Best one I've found by far. Update on the badge is I've contacted the Maryborough RSL in QLD (Tinana is a suburb of) and they are looking into it for me so I'm waiting for a call back. The old bloke I spoke to seemed good and interested so fingers crossed he can locate the family.

I didn't, I've done the breath test and they didn't seem to fog up at all but I can't be sure without an eye glass. Usually use my old mans
 
The public hall came up a treat, doesn't look like anyone has hit that spot before judging by all those tasty silver, well done. :eek:

Virgin territory, had to sift though the trash though which was plentiful
 
That'd be two small straights 6d down,.. and the rest of the silver to boot. :cool:
