John,

If I drank my collection of JW bottles in one sitting I would be dead many many times over from pre 70"s to current bottles. Being collecting for years.
The other half thinks I"m mad.
At $360 that would be a large cased bottle Blue or a limited release.
Either way they do appreciate as time goes by. GOLD !
love the Johnnie though off topic.

FILL them HOLES and that thirst too.

Yeah it was a Limited Edition that came in a blue and Gold Box with a Gold Silk Lining and the Bottle was made in Vintage Glass, Ya know the type that when you break it the Edges are Green,

I use to collect bottles of Scotch, but one day I just sold them and gave some away, and that was that,

John, I don't see a problem with Numb Thumb's post, he was just saying that everyone knows the rules and some just refuse to follow them. There is nothing in his post that reflects negatively, he is just stating a fact. Please drop it and move forward.

Thanks.

I was referring to his first couple of posts when I said about things being in a negative light,

Feel free to add me to the Walkabout List.

Fair go John, why would I want to do that???? Why would you want me to do that???? It's only a conversation.

You give some good info about detectors on here for people and I hope you will continue to do so, but flogging a dead horse such as this is pointless, that's all I really have to say mate.

Having been involved in trying to save our rights regarding what goes on in the prospecting world I understand the pit falls too well, So I would rather protect it than risk one inch of it, prevention is better than the Cure, and it is so hard to put something right after the damage is done, and that is a Risk that I am not prepared to take even more so when what I do effects others.

It is not a personal thing between me and another member, But I do want everyone to be free to enjoy this thing that we do, That's all that is important, and even joking around can have an ill effect and that bothers me,

John,

You do more than your bit John :)

Walkabout denied! ;)

Cheers Gary appreciate that mate,

I think back to one time I got permission the dig in the grounds of a graded listed Building, the first day I did real good, I dug William the IV silver coins and Victorian silver coins from the 1830s etc and found a lot of them along with 14th century musket balls etc Only to get there the next day and have my backside handed to me on a plate, Because there is a little Black furry critter that has fur like Velvet and he is called a mole and he is about half the size of a rat and he lives under ground, Well he and his mates must of thought that I was something because they removed about 95% of the Turf from the holes that I had dug the day before and I had to spend the whole morning putting everything back as it was,

Here is a video of a mild case of what they can do in 24 hours but because I had softened the digging for them they absolutely Nuked the place I was at,

Does the trap kill them ??

Yeah they do, I have never seen the traps, I know the Moles make a heck of a mess but they are funny to watch when they shove the dirt out of the holes I have seen about 3 of them but I have watched them for hours shoving dirt out the holes but you never see them themselves, But they did give me a good workout that time,

John

Here is the little fella, and believe it or not he can excavate about 300 times his own weight in one night maybe more,

Lets all remember it does not take very much evidence of harm and damage to ruin access for all.
If you see anyone in the field doing the wrong thing no need to be nasty or aggressive just explain what needs to done and how we go about it?

I do spend a portion of my very few prospecting days filling in the holes left by others, especially if the dirt around the hole is fresh and loose as it simply takes no time at all to leave the place as found. :)

A few years back 2013 i visited the USA and actually did some prospecting, while i was there a semi retired couple who had just spent 3.5 weeks digging into a stream bank and feeding a high banker in a very Nice Pristine tourist area, they made one hell of a mess and it did not go unnoticed? The ruling authorities almost shut down recreational prospecting in that entire state after that one event. One thing i did learn while over there is they have way more freedom than we do, so similar or worse outcomes can come out of total disregard for existing laws and restrictions.

Back in 2010 I had found an old drovers track over here and I got all my gear stolen and I gave up detecting because It made me so angry in fact I never left the house for 8 months, Anyway I went back there and what ever happened they council put up signs and I lost that site, and I was finding stuff from the 1600s and older and at that time it was the only place I had to detect so I was not a happy camper, Not only did they steal my gear they even stole my food and then to loose the site as well did not sit well with me,

What pricks RR! Hope it wasn't someone you knew.

Yeah I was not impressed, It ruined detecting for me for a while and when I did get back in to it for the first month I could not concentrate on what I was doing because I was always checking my gear and I put an Ear piercing Alarm on all my gear for a while and now only detect where others don't go,

John

No worry's mate, Thanks,

I have no problem finding Good stuff, About a year after I had my gear stolen I invited the brother in law over and either him or his new girlfriend left with some of my most perfect 1247 Hammered silver cut half pennies, I wouldn't mind but because they were out of work I gave em a couple of hundred Bucks just to help them out as they were leaving, It took me over 3 years of searching one small area and it took me about 1500 hours to find them coins and they took the best ones I had, I like to give them to folks who share the same interest who have never seen them or get the chance to search for them,

but I can't figure out why family steal from me,

John
