This change has been in the wind for a while, as eBay announced last year that they would be partnering with some Dutch payments company. From the sound of this article, the Dutch outfit will be handling the back-end invisibly, with eBay using it's own name for the whole transaction. Effectively, eBay will replace all of the services currently provided to buyers and sellers by Paypal.

I found this further info on the eBay Announcements page:

Interesting move, I wonder if it has anything to do with PayPal working towards adding Bitcoin as a payment currency. Once you pay with Bitcoin I imagine there is no way of getting a refund for faulty or incorrectly advertised goods :(

Who needs Ebay anyhow??
I'm taking Ebay off my browser right now! There's plenty of other places to shop and sell.
Reeds, Prospectors patch, Blackwoods, Midalia steel, Bunnings, Mitre ten, Tentworld, Clark rubber, etc, etc ,etc.

I just had an incident with Paypal where i wasn't informed about an overseas seller and my account was debited twice, something to do with the exchange rate.
I had to cancel my card.
I got a feeling it's going to get worse. Stuff em.

So they are still accepting paypal or you can apply for the managed payments system ? I take it you can just confirm your bank account details and the new system will take the money out of your bank , rather than paypal , when you go to the checkout ? I probably only buy 3 times a year for stuff i cannot get locally .

Ebay started Paypal and used to own it . I think they sold it a couple of years ago and this would have been in the wind for when the honeymoon period was over.

The article linked from OP is written so poorly I assumed it would be a ******** fake story , but you guys have checked this on eBay for confirmation ?

Not happy jack .

Half my yearly revenue is from eBay sales and PayPal worked fine.

G'day

Been buying and selling on Ebay for years, but the fees made it that you had to overprice your item to get what you wanted for it and therefore harder to sell when others would undercut your price, then they even started to charge final value fees on the postage as well, don't know how they legally got away with that one?, so you then had to charge more for postage, previous to that as to be fair on the buyer I only used to charge what it cost me to post it and packing was free and I still ended up going backwards on that as well.

They are greedy and paypal is just as bad, maybe the new system will work out cheaper but I doubt it as I read that the ebay fees are also going to change so no doubt they will go up to cover what they lost not having paypal.

Also had to laugh  when I read the section on Benefits for Sellers, paragraph 4, where it talks about seller protection  any dispute I ever had with a buyer I was always the one who got stiffed by ebay no matter what the situation was, they are all about protecting the buyer and do not give a fat rats clacker for the seller, I rarely sell on there now and many regular sellers have given it away as well.

cheers

I gave up selling on ebay because of all the idiots asking stupid questions, not making contact or even bothering to turning up after winning the auction or letting the auction go without a bid and then bombarding me with lowball offers via email. Even had one ask for a lower price than the winning bid because they didn`t agree with my description of the condition of the item. One bloke won a car bonnet and then said they were in mildura or somewhere and could i post it !!!!!!!!!! Ended up wrapping it in cardboard and freighting it at his expense. Pain in the backside. Had other say they didn`t realise i was in victoria and withdrew their winning bid.

This poor couple make a living from selling on ebay and this is one of the many videos of their experiences ;

I'm sick of sellers that don't respond to my questions or don't bother to post the item that you bought for the asking price .
Then they ( After 3 days) refund your money.
Or better still, you have to wait until the delivery date for an unsent item.
Then wait for eBay to refund your money. Dam Knob Jockies.
