I will never know for sure, that's just the closest evidence. Yeah, pretty amazing that it can lose almost all features.

I guess that is the best guess, since British coins are the most likely by far (29 mm only gives you a probable date if it is British - there are plenty of other 29 mm coins).

This coin is 1.5mm thick. Not sure about a roo penny, probably quite similar.
