Thanks GP, if you didn't mention the 6p's it would have taken a while for me to workout out that I missed some
I dropped the high down to 64 to cover the 6p 50's but the 3p 50's are around the 46 mark so might leave it there for a run before I mess with it further

Cheers Goldtarget, yes I have heard they are a bit sparky and can be prone to EMI o high sensitivity levels, though the later models are apparently less prone to EMI than the original F75. The G2/Goldbug DP is probably quite the opposite, you can run them flat out on 99 sensitivity with no real EMI issues.

Which model do you have, the one with boost/cache, DST etc?

I owned the latest version for a few weeks, found the emi shield worked a treat, however I sold it as I was offered more than I paid for it. Impressive as boost and shield was it actually wasn't enough to convince me to hold on to it. I did a few comparisons and recorded the results. What I found with boost was on mild ground there was a difference that was noteworthy, but its rare to pull objects beyond the capabilities of my original F75. In Europe or possibly the Americas where finds could be millenia old and buried it would make a lot of sense but except in a few specialist areas that I might get to it wasn't needed.

I doubt it will be your favourite machine but when (not if, for you) you mate it you will find it has some real strong points. It can hit crazy depths, excellent notching, reliable id, and awesome recovery. Used wide open its very capable. Big bonus is weight, the deus has it covered but its a long hunt machine.

I use energiser in mine, should get every minute of 40 hours out of it.

This model does have all the latest updates, including the shielding, just not the boost and cache. I did have a go a while back on one of the detector club member's Teknetics T2 (very similar), though not long enough to make any educated conclusions on whether it is a good thing or not. You never know whether you will gel with a particular detector, the only way to find out is to give it a go, and move it on if it doesn't come up to par.

This latest outing was to try out a different park for a change with the Deus, never been there before and had no idea what to expect. Unfortunately the ground was extremely difficult to extract coins from, almost resembling cement in some areas.

The first minutes showed some real promise, with an 1891 veilhead Victoria threepence virtually glued to the soil on the surface. Considering the ground was hard to dig, I decided to chase surface and shallow targets for the rest of the evening, as I wasn't keen on leaving a mess behind. Next target was a 1951 roo penny, followed by a 1916 threepence and 1959 sixpence. In between the predecimals was the odd goldie and BB, otherwise nothing to make me want to try the spot again at this stage - earmark it for next winter when the ground is hopefully a bit softer.

Pretty good hunt GP, that thrippy is in great condition, I'd be stoked with that. Pity about the ground being so hard, it really does make detecting without mess much more difficult. The 1916 thrippy is a reasonbly low mintage too.

Despite the tonnes of rain, the soil drains very quickly and it only takes the odd 30 degree day to dry things up. Also depends on the area, some locations are still very damp.

Had a brief run with the Racer 2 at the beach this morning, a great way to relax after a night of festivities. For a VLF it runs amazingly quiet on both the wet sand as well as in the water, with a few coins including the 1950 threepence found at the water line. The plated ring was found a little further up from the waterline in wet sand, and the bracelet with .925 charms found 3/4 the way up the beach in the dry stuff.

I was also approached by a young fellow who had an obvious interest in detecting, and I offered him a few tips on his Minelab 705 for the beach (he only just got it for xmas), and some general info on how his detector operates. I was happy to see that he managed his first detected coin not long after turning the detector on, even if it was only a 10c piece, couldn't stop him and his brother after that, both eager to detect and dig up the whole beach. Hopefully they will look up the forum and sign up sometime.

Not long after that, I had a following of other eager youngsters offering to dig every hole and test every target for me with a cheapy Bounty Hunter detector, and that was pretty much my cue to head home for the morning.
