Gday All,
Well after panning, crevicing & river sluicing for twelve months, Ive bitten the bullet & purchased a detector.
Bought the Gold Monster 1000 As a starter detector & learn the art.
Could do with a few suggested areas around the Bathurst Area. A mate detected a 1.7g Specie at Ophir about 6 months ago.....
I was wondering when other decent ground would be for days outing...
Cheers

I cant vote really as I havent used it but none the less you are evolving (for lack of a better word I think) in our great hobby, I started with a ultra cheap dick Smith detector in a way and got a few modern coins and some other stuff, got a better detector, built a river sluice, then a high banker then got a better detector again, got to start somewhere
As for ground in that area still yet to get out that way really (done tuena, found first nugget there) but keen as mustard to get out there on the fields of gold

Get the GM1000 over shallow rocky gold bearing ground and you probably have a very good chance of finding gold, most of the public areas are pretty flogged but that doesn't mean there aren't some nice pieces just waiting to be found, luck plays a big part too.

hi mate
i own a GM1000 and i love it so yes you have my vote and i think you will find it will suite what you want to do
grab some rings and things coins etc etc bury at different depths and get use to the detector thats all i did
(if you use the wife's jewelry it gives the incentive to make sure you find it all)

I gave it a tick, not because I think it,s a great detector but I think it's a good start. We found gold at Wattle Flat not too far north of you there. The common is peppered with old diggings and there's still more to be found.

Thx guys,
Thought I'd made the right choice!!!
Love the comment about the wife's rings & a great idea. LMAO
Will most likely head to Waffle Flat in a couple of weeks
I've just heard from a mate that a 128g nugget was found out at Kings Plains near Blayney, so will do some homework & book a day out there as well.
Cheers
