Anybody know of deepish ground, preferably in a narrow gully where they have found midd to large nuggets in the past, but believe there are still larger slugs lurking deeper down around the 4-6 feet mark. I have designed this special hand tool that will allow me to move 1-2 feet of top soil off the top, this is dependant on how hard the soil is though, and it`s bloody hard yakka, i`ve given it a trial run; it works, but you need to be in the right place!!
So anybody keen to share a secret in the vic goldfields of their bonanza gully, secretly hiding some huge slugs, just waiting to be dug up?

I`m thinking take a foot or two off the top and get the ol SD2200D as they are renown for their depth to ping those huge elusive`s that keep evading us!!
Any takers?

From personal experience, deep ground in a narrow gully is uncommon in the Victorian Golden Triangle. Likewise a narrow gully and mid to large sized nuggets.

There's plenty of areas where bedrock is in the 3-6 foot range though, and spots where larger nuggets were found in the same range historically. I'd bet that there'd be gold around those areas out of detectable reach, a 1/2 ounce piece at 3-6 foot would be a bit of a stretch for pretty much any detector and probably even a 2 or 3 ouncer at 6 or 7.
I'd be interested to see your device though if you're willing, even if I don't have a bonanza gully to share I reckon we could find a spot where a couple of foot of the top would greatly improve our chances.

I appreciate your replies, thanks for that, and 'Bend' i`m not willing to show anybody my "Device" i`d call it a special tool on steroids , at this point in time (actually as a 'device' would imply that it`s a machine of some sort, which as i understand it , would be illegal to use anyway) i was hoping for some directions to the 'special' gully, but i guess i`ll have to find it myself!!!

Oak street, We need about 1 to 2 feet knocked off the top so the turf guy can use some nice fill before turfing :p l

so you want people to tell you where to find big gold, so you can use your "special tool" and get the gold.
Go buy a tully map, also a device is just anything adapted to a particular purpose, a pumps a device but so is a rocker box. Doesn't have anything to do with mechanical driven implements so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

Hang on fellas, I'm reconing ironrock woulda been thinking about coming to an arrangement via pm over a spot, and sharing the big deep bits 50/50 with the spot provider, with a personal reveal all on the mechanical dynamics of his secret top stripping hand opperated machinery on the way down towards the big ones lying there on top of the bedrock ,.... if I was down there with a spot that filled the bill and was only one in twenty that I new of, I'd a gladly went in on the adventure just for curiosities sake (with the added bonus of potential riches) and the potential of meeting a fellow adventureo. :D ;)
Even if I had to sign a non disclosure.

I'll give you one for free. Mosquito Gully in Wedderburn.

You can always use a horse and plow for a non mechanical means of clearing top soil.

You should still put your hand up for a share nuggetino, just in case a monster nugget pops ! :p

Horse and plow? Now why has`nt somebody tried that already? C`mon guys, you want me to show you this implement so you can take the gold that`s got my name on it? I was just putting it out there, just to guage your responses more than it being a business proposal as such.
If you saw what this is , you would laugh your ass off, specially if you knew what`s it`s made from. I did try it twice when i was in vic a few months back, once on some diggings in inglewood, the ground was dry and hard and this thing just bounced off the soil, i could`nt do jack s*#@ on this ground, maybe after a good rain, then things might be different, the other place was goldsborough, the top soil was much friendlier here, i took off a couple of inches on an area of about 4m *7m, i was in a bit of a hurry as i had to get back to south oz as something urgent came up, so i could`nt dig deep like i wanted to. Anyway i will give it another shot someday soon and hopefully right over a life changer ( 500+ ouncer).

Your name on it? you're asking people to tell you where it is mate.

I'm putting my name in the hat for a five hundred ouncer if this works though.

"I was just putting it out there, just to guage your responses more than it being a business proposal as such"...no mate, you were asking people to tell you where they find their gold and offering nothing in return....this was done after another post on another thread on this forum requesting help to you to locate nuggets so you could 'make a living' etc.

Your chances improve if you collaborate...if you don't then best wishes with your 'alone' venture... you will soon get a rep where others may not want to play with you.
good luck with that :)

It's a Two way Street, One hand washes the other, Having a machine with no where to use it is just something else to gather dust, Combine those resources and everybody wins,

You want a 500oz nugget, but I am sure you would be happy with sharing that 2 or 3 ways maybe even 4 ways, most blokes are more than happy to find 5 grammers,

I don't like your attitude, and I would advise folks to stay well clear and just see how far you get on ya own,

john

I presume this contraption also returned the area to it's previous state.
