It looks very similar to this one which I cleaned up to reveal some beautiful old carbon steel. Not sure what they might have been used for. It measures 150mm x 15mm and 5mm thick and slightly concave on one side.

When you see images of unusual items, it's strange what comes to mind

Hardened steel so it doesn't bend, with a sharpened point so it can be hammered into the wood, were Aussie trees tapped for anything?

Cider or sugar gums have been tapped in Australia, this was first done by the indigenous. (According to google)
