OGT, If you are staying in van parks anywhere around the park you'll pick up coins, oh, and lots of bottletops. In NT, when we were there last year the areas to fissick are really few and far between. I got told Pine Creek was closed but when we got home it seemed there was some access........so I don't know. Much of the NT is covered with native title I think so its hard to suggest anywhere. You will need to do your own research, which probably should have been done before you started the trek. Anyway, good luck with it.
