Gday guys, great thread. I thought i might share a little recent story. Over the weekend my wifes cousin managed to find a great bargain on his local Facebook buy, swap and sell page. There was an ad for a bundle of coins, 500+ in total, mainly Australian but with a mixture of coins from around the globe for $100. When he asked the seller about what kind of Australian coins were in the bundle he replied saying there were 4 or 5 round silver 50c coins. Happy with that he offered $80 for the bundle to which the seller accepted. When he got them home he was sorting them off into their country of origin and denominations. He reached the bottom of the small bucket the coins were given to him in and to his surprise one of the last coins he pulled out was an 1857 Sydney mint Half Sovereign!! Wow what a welcome surprise!! He mentioned the coin has some wear but is going to hang onto it for now.
Sometimes you just never know your luck...

He sure did and avoided the need of digging hundreds of ring pulls in the hope of finding one.
Unlike myself, the search continues…

While hunting for an👽 die clash i have captured a different beast. Looking for a name for this error , suggestions welcome.
2006 5 cent with claw clash.

It's called the 2006 die clash error , I think there is a mark over near the ear as well, and maybe something over behind the neck, well found Topenda.

Ahh ...yes, you can see the end of the nose on the Queens' ear, thanks Silver.
O.K have ya seen one of these beauties, a 2005 Flamingo? Just found it.

Ahh...yes Topenda, but sadly am not sure where, or, what happened to mine.
I may even have spent it on by accident before it got to a two by two, or, it may even be in one of my green raries bags. But being as yours is the only other one I've ever seen or heard of, it gives me the hope of knowing I did not dream it up at all.
Once again well found(don't loose it)
I also have 2002 and 2003 examples as well as the regular one that is only ever usually talked about.

Righto , on the hunt for 2002 ,2003 and 2004 Flamingo errors now, thanks for the heads up.
Guessing i am not the first to find this 2013 'Die Clash' either? It has clash marks on both sides of the coin and either side of her head.

Had a bit of a look at some of mine, but no 2013 die clash there so far, but I'll keep looking.
Always good to discover things for the first time as you are looking, even if they have been found before by others..... it means you are on the ball and on top of your game.

Well found mate.

Here is another , found today.
2005 Die Clash, pretty much the same markings as the 2006, couple of clashes on the reverse.

Hi Topenda and Silver while yes they may have been a die cash but I think that you are comparing the wrong areas of the coins the marks by size, shape and position don't line up.
See the coins side by side below.

This is a link to PJ's Coin Capers video on the 2006 Die Clash.
I do not know how to post the video, not sure how to download it etc.
Seems to have worked:)

Yep that's what I was saying you had the wrong part of the coin it's the lower legs that cause the clash as he shows in the video. Great find

The area i have circled on the reverse of the coin in post 329 and 331 is a die clash of the back of the Queens head not the claws involved in the obverse die c
:)

It has clash marks on both sides of the coin and either side of her head.

One would be called "obverse die clash"... and the other "reverse die clash".
You got em both on the one coin, good example, musta bean a full on clash that day at the mint..... maybe enough to bring it to their attention early on, with not many making it through to the outsidecworld.(hopefully fir you).

$2 coin hunt today and 5 rolls had these lovely corroded coins in them, not sure what caused it but pretty lazy from who ever was putting them back into coin rolls. Only a few coloured today, must have been a Wiggles day.
