I just got backk from my first trip to Clermont, this was my first time ever using a gold detector.
I was going to hire a 2300 from JP and 2 nights before I left to go on my trip a gpx5000 came up for sale in my local buy and sell page on Facebook so I ended up getting the 5000 and done a 2 hour training course with JP.
I stayed in Clermont for 4 days finding 1 little nugget on my first and second day but that was it for the trip. 1 of the nuggets was just under 1 gram :D
Anyway, so it turns out the guy I brought the 5000 has a claim at mount Britton  and he has a dodgy back that's why he sold the 5000 and he wants to sell the land for only 25k but he only has a few acres. He told me I'm more then welcome to go on he's land when ever I like so I'm
heading up there in 2 weeks,

Nice job with the nuggets wayno37 straight on to them, the 5000 sounds like it's also paying more dividends than just the nugs.
good luck.

That's awesome Wayno37 !!! Very lucky man indeed. Anytime you need a hand in finding that elusive nugget at Mount Britton or anywhere in fact give me a holla. Just in Rocky and pretty much a newbie at it all and I even have my pan. No yella yet but positivity is the key. Great work mate!

Well done to have a find first time out............... you would have to be happy with that ;) Further North I've found is the key :) Were you using fine gold setting on the 5000 ? Also curious as to what the new coil that was being trialed also ? Would need to be good to beat the 12" Evo as an all rounder :D
Heading into the hot season up North about now ....................... but then last season the heat didn't drop of that much any way from what the locals tell me

I've already started budgeting to buy a 4x4 so I can head north, I have a full off road camper trailer so slowly getting together a nice setup.
I was using the fine gold setting and mono coil. JP was using a new coil tjat will be released in 2 weeks and we both swang over the same gold with our 5000's and you could hear the difference the coil made thru he's machine, the fine gold will be much easier to find with the new coil. It's $389 and will be released in a week or 2

Wayne what brand is coil ?
Re videos I think you can only send a link to it due to file size limitation ?
:)

I can't remember the coil name Bogger but if you call the outback prospector and tell JP or he's wife that you were talking to Wayne Holmes and you are after the new coil that JP used on my training course. I've already pre-ordered one.

Cheers guys I'll upload the video to YouTube tonight when I get home from work.

No prob had a look on the website and couldn't find any info ? But sounds like it may be a new coiltek Elite ? Also what was a couple of hours tuition worth as couldn't find anything regards costing of that either whilst looking and was it value for money spent ?
:)

That's the one mate, coiltek elite it's an oval shaped coil. It's $225 for a 2 hour lesson with JP, because I was a beginner I found the lesson pretty good but to be honest I learned more from a guy I met at the caravan park, I had a beer with him in my first night and told him I didn't have a clue what I was doing and he showed me all about my settings on the 5000 and gave me heaps of info on what to look for out in the goldfields but in answer to your question Yes the lesson was good for a crash course but not sure if I'd do it again.

Hope to be in Clermont myself over Xmas break, and hoping JP will be conducting lessons, then as well.

Yes that's the go ...................... if your lucky enough to meet up with some one that's been doing it for years the info is invaluable.
I guess credit where it's due in that between Nenad from Phase Tech and also Dean, Dean being from DD leather with about thirty years experience, I have found between the wealth of information these to gentlemen of the trade possess I've not needed to look further rather than hone my own skills and put into practice what I have been told. Yes may be a blatant plug but in both these cases both gentleman even with a business to run and a family to feed it goes way beyond being just about a dollar. Have never met either but owe them both a beer or two when I do. A beer for the knowledge they have passed on and another for the dollars they have saved me from not wasting money on buying gear that would have been unsuitable for what I needed
One thing I have learn't is there is just no substitute for hours spent swinging.
You have had a dream start Wayne in that first trip out and you came home with gold in the pocket ........... doesn't get better than that ;)

Pssssssssst can't follow you on the Coilteks but .......................... I'm a Nugget Finder guy ................... go the Evo's :D
Also if you have your own camping gear give the free camp set up a go ??
