Your right, was miss read as 500K . Gotta love this place and being the eternal optimist as I am, one hopes it does get better :lol:

Hi Diginit, the claim has a few drives in it! One long drive + a few smaller ones near the shaft! I believe 25-30% is dug! One 9 inch hole brought up green colour and it has not been connected as far as I know! A guy mined it for a week or so and found red coloured pieces near the roof! Then he left for Mulga! If you pm me, then I give you his ph nr! It is no machinery included ( Sold it to the guy who mined it)! I sold opals for approx $800 in 3 months of work using a jackhammer, hoyst! Had to leave because of the covid!

$500 seems to be a fair price . It would cost you that to set up a claim with no holes on it . There is not much of a market for opal at the present time . Read that there was only 100 active miners in Coober Pedy .

I started opal mining in 1966 in Coober Pedy , when I was 22 .

G'day Mike! Yes, a 3 foot hole will cost approx $20-25 per feet so 1000 to 1500 for the hole and the 4 9 inch holes cost me approx $600. The neighbour found buckets of black centered potch and some green! No red! this claim has red colour, so if someone find that in those chunks of potch)Yes not many miners around but hopefully outback opal hunters will bring a few keen ones to the fields! We can't let the industry die!

Hey Mike. Can I ask, why do you reckon there is not much of a market for opal at the moment? What factors are at play, mate? I'm still learning about the space.

The other person believed it was to messy to deal with the mining office, so the buyer decided not to buy the claim!
