They have admitted it has moved and water is seeping under the dam,but they are worried, they have let huge amounts of water from it.

Other than short term catastrophic failure, it makes me wonder how much damage the dam is sustaining by the constant release of such huge amounts of water?

The erosion to concrete structures the water discharges through, and even to the river bed just down stream must be colossal....

That's why they have ski jump shaped ramps at the bottom of the wall to project the water further out from the walls base. I am not convinced it's going to break. Letting huge amounts of water out during floods and periods of high rainfall is not unusual.

Concrete that gets cracks allows water to get to the steel,then the bars start to rust.
