I am wondering as to why some people walk with a chain attached to themselves. ???

I do it too some Saturday nights, Usually attached to a Butt plug that itself is then attached to a hog ring through my nose. Don't knock it 'till you've tried it

So you can see where you have walked/detected.
Some people drag their sand scoop on the beach..Helps when grinding an area.

It is called chaining and is simply a way to show your previous track and in so doing to optimise your search pattern. Not missing spots and not going over the same spot multiple times. Doesn't work too well in certain condtions of course, but when it works you can save a bit of walking.

PS, by dragging a chain one if effectively "logging" where you have walked, so it makes for more effective ground coverage.
