Honest answer in NO ( but I have not used it  )
But as they once said buyer beware , is more important today than ever before.

There is a heap of YouTube vids on this subject, as well as the pop up add here

Good reminder.

The 400 carat yellow diamond I bought on eBay for $100 is a bit late arriving , hope the bloody scammers at Australia Post didnt steal it again like the last 20 I bought.

Ramjet - has there been a sale, complaint, issue of recent times to spark this warning?

Or just a general, wide ranging reminder to be careful?

No we have had no complaints here on PA. We would hope that everyone buying or selling on this forum would be honest. If we did find something less than honest we would take harsh action.

There has been a significant increase in items for sale recently so a timely reminder would seem to be appropriate.

Just a general reminder to be aware. Not everyone in the world is an honest trader.

PS A little side note. I have watched a few Youtubes of scammers being scammed and WOW. They do not like being caught out. One I saw and the "victim" put up a picture of the scammer and he went off! Swearing and calling the guy all sorts of names.

Many getting caught with Coins...

Face to face and know what you are dealing with....So many get caught with $1 "Year of the Mule" ( never said it was a mule, year 2000; so your complaint goes into the bin) and fakes.

Mine you some good fakes out there but spo many get parted from their $$$ so easily..

On gumtree a guy was selling a fake gpx5000 and said that in add. Was in adelaide. Asked $700 firm and sold it. Just hope that does not go on ebay. Ok i suppose for harness and coil and other sundries. He said he had been got and cost him lots of money and big learning curve.

The auction stone on here with the certificate does not match. I'd be very cautious about that! :gemstone:
Can he be trusted? :poop:
On another note, if I was a moderator, I'd be doing more to protect the members before the :fire:

With certificates the card thats printed out can easily miss represent the colours of a stone. The certificate number should be provided because the photo from the verification of such certificate on the lab website will be a photo that will verify the colour and possible inclusions to clearly identify the stone by its colour and cut. Its up to a seller to represent their goods as close as ther can to any certificate that applies to said gems or provide a number that can be verified by anyone interested. Buyers have the right not to bid on anything that seems suspicious

Nope, there is nothing the mods can do Ramjet. (Now Im responding to a comment that has been removed  )

They cannot authenticate every listing across the auction and for sale section.

It is buyer beware.

If other members see something that is not quite right then I suppose PMs to the members that are bidding on the item might provide a heads up.

I have made a personal point of only purchasing from long term members that are held with some regard amongst our community.

NE.

I removed it as I shouldn't have asked the question. ;) We would be flooded with everyone's ideas on how to run things. :Y:

When you see a certificate that was asked for twice, then you see numbers crossed out, you start to think if this is legit.
One other thing that I noticed was that the seller said his stone was 5.55 carats, but the certificate says the stone is 5.59 carats?
Confused, so am I.

I think the closing clincher is when the facet cuts are different from that in the certificate image. That is a cast iron guarantee it is not the same stone that's being sold and and the vendor is about to take you for a ride.

Also because a stone has a certificate does not mean it's the real deal either. It has to come from a reputable gem lab and if it doesn't you will still be running a risk of being ripped.

Someone in the last few days mentioned CGL. This one:

or this one:

5.55crt is 1.11grams and 5.59crt is 1.118grams unless the scales that are being used either show weight in carats or is a 0.001 grams scale theres always going to be problems

That isn't how COD works. Australia Post require payment in full by either cash or debit card (ie. irrevocable payment), BEFORE they hand over the item to the receiver. They do not offer an 'open and inspect before acceptance' service.
