G'day Wal, in another thread someone posted a link to 'Genquip'. I've heard you mention that for a highbanker it is best to have a pump that delivers at least 240 L/m. If my Walbanker is built to the exact dimensions you have provided do you think this little pump (200 L/m & 29m head) would have a hard time keeping up?

http://www.genquip.com.au/shop/petrol-transfer-pump-1-5inch/

Appears to be reasonably powerful for it's size & would be more of a pleasure to carry upstream as it is only 12Kg. I've not bought one as yet, still doing my research.

Cheers

Drewe.

This is probably the best instructional demonstration that I have seen for many years

Well done, informative and clear.

Thank you....I will begin my collection of bits with final construction a little later

Hi Wal,

I have become really inspired by your video and the comments on the "WHY" and not just the how it works.

I am out collecting my bits already but would really like to obtain some of that Cat Walk Mesh you have mentioned is available.

Not sure how to PM yet as I have only been part of this forum for a few days now....where have I been wondering before this?????

Obviously you know how to PM so please contact me with details on how I can arrange to pay for this delivery mate

regards and thanks for sharing

Wal is away on a fishing trip so might not reply for awhile. To PM there is a little PM icon under there name on the left hand side of there posts.

Thanks DD, think I know the answer to my own question .... and the answer to the answer could be to start plans to build a smaller scale highbanker to use with a 2.5HP pump, then the longer hikes up river will be no problem.

Hi Drewe,
My opinion would be to try and keep the dimensions for the highbanker build the same as Wal has designed it! Wal runs his Honda at just over half throttle and believes he has approx 160L/min running down the banker! I am using the Genquip at 3qtr throttle and it seems capable. Im only a novice so maybe hang on and wait until Wal returns to get the right advise!

Cheers Brad.

Here she is .... HMAS Walbanker.

I have no aluminium catwalk but thought the breadtray (finally found a discarded broken one) would do as it is the same approx' dimensions & rigid when given aluminium sides. Drewe

Looks like a beauty Mr Sism!

May it sail sail the golden seas and bring you many years of good results :D

All the best out there with it!

Cheers,
Shauno.

That's a great looking machine you've got there Mr SisM. I cant wait to see what sort of results you get out of it.

those little pins you have to hold the legs up look like little hand grenade pins

where did you leave the grenades exactly and what kind of toothpicks did you replace those with ? 8)

Cracked me up!!

i second that . looks like a nice professional quality . good work !

hope the gold likes it too and comes for a closer look

i need to find a bread crate too for a secondary sluice . saw one on the side of the road last week but was too embaressed to stop due to the high traffic presence :8

Thanks guys. Paul, yes I've tapered it exactly to Wal's specs & yes that would be great (!!!!) if I'm able to have a piece from you .... will PM you shortly.

For anyone else thinking of starting the build, the drawings put together by 'Rastys 1964' in the specifications thread (page 3) were very helpful

Just finalising research into pump/hose/fittings & will make a scraper this afternoon.

Soon enough there will be a virtual army/navy of HMAS Walbankers out there in the fields.

Cheers

Drewe.

I had the same problem. The crates were either damaged or to risky to take. So I ordered one off these guys. It cost $16 plus delivery...
