Back in the late eighties, or very early nineties, Australian Gold Gem and Treasure did a story on the bridge and the gold below. If I get time I will try and find it.

Dig anywhere in the world deep enough and you will get gold (molten rivers of it) if your keen enough but reporters only have to dig a little to hit paydirt.

Last time that story was published a few years back people could be seen digging around the pylons for a while till the novelty wore off :lol:
Fantastic story about the residential living though after driving across it for years and wondering about the tattered curtains it felt more like an urban legend that people lived there .

There is a Development happing in the 'Area of Interest' ATM and some Locals are not happy campers about it going ahead and are going to end and far to try and stop or at least reduce it's size.... There are 'Reports' of Gold found in Southport, Nerang, Currumbin as well as quite a few in Brisbane and other areas of the Gold Coast...

Every Hole dug for a new Hi-Rise and Development is checked for their Mineral Content, as part of the Geo Engineers Reports as well as Cultural Artefacts and a few 'Other' Items of Interest to Anybody who has a 'Investment' in the Development... I have worked in some of those holes and there are people doing all sorts of things down there...
