It's still closed at Monaghan's Bluff so no direct route thru from south to north.

In May this year the local Member announced a $2million upgrade of the track that included monies for required land acquisitions etc.

Heard just in the last few days on local radio that Bathurst Council has just secured a land acquisition to allow a bypass to be put in.
I didn't hear mention of a timeframe for an opening though. I'd expect it will still be several months away?

Banjo,
The track has been graded from Hill End right down to the Root Hog I beleive. Before I left Hill End in March I did the section to the crossing from H.E and it was very good. Remember that you have to join the Bridal Track at the Root Hog crossing as they still yet to start on the Bluff bypass.

I also forgot to add

Make sure that you check the levels of the Maquarie and Turon Rivers before you depart. I know the Turon is running a bit high atm and over recent weeks there have been 2 rescues at the Turon crossing at Hill End. If the water is over the bollards at the Hill End crossing it is advisable not to attempt to cross

Hey thanks for the input everyone :Y:
Sorry about the late reply. Just got home.
Might have to go back to plan B ( Nundle)
I really would have loved to do the Bridle track south
then head north up through to Gulgong
then back to the coast ( home)
Could still do a similar trip just not go so far south
Then again Nundle would be easy.
Less driving means more time prospecting
Big decisions :(
Thanks again for the info.
Would have been a bummer going all that way and having
to back track

Cheers av a good weekend ;)
Banjo

Ps. I'm open for suggestions. If anyone has an alternative
I'm gunna take a week off.

Depending on where you are coming from its a nice drive from Capertee following the Turon through to Sofala, you could then head into Hill End from Sofala and out to Mudgee/Gulgong via Hargreaves.
If you are up for something that's a bit more off-road you can come from Sunny Corner through to the Turon
I can recommend the pub at Hill End for accomodation and tucker, we took the kids there a couple of years ago.

Regards,
Tote

Thanks Tote :Y:
That might just be an option
I'll check out maps.
Recently had a brief look through sunny corner
Looks good.
I'm North of Newcatle. So either way sounds like a good trip
Thinking of heading down through Bylong Valley so
that could work.

Cheers Banjo

Hi Tote.
Do you mean take the Upper Turon road from Capertree and make my way to Upper Turon
Then to Sofala.
Just checked it out on Google maps
Looks good
Do you know this area well?
Cheers Banjo

Thanks MH. Sounds good. I'll check it out on maps
Probably be in your area on the home run.
Still planning the route. I could let you
know when I'm in the region for some info
or a meet up.
If you are ok with that

Cheers mate
