I bought a pair of keen s waterproof ankle boots, they are breathable and have no metal at all, they were expensive, $189 but seem rugged.

Ive got the Keens as well. Like Dave said they are rugged all right. Imo they have the best sole of any boot I have tried, hard wearing and flexible and contain absolutely no metal parts.
These are 2 seasons old and still have plenty of tread.... like having mini rakes on your feet. :Y:

Picked up a pair of Steel Blue #532 (composite toe safety boot) a couple months ago. Has a bit of metal in the zipper pull but otherwise none - doesn't bother the detector at all, useful for testing if the thing is still working. Pretty tough boots and I can kick rocks around pretty good w/ the safety toe. Fairly comfortable but I think the extra room in the toe is a downside - I'd rather have tighter-fitting hiking boots so the foot doesn't slide around as much.

To anyone interested, Rossi Boots stopped production and closed thier Adelaide business about 18 months ago and was I disappointed as I'd been wearing them for over 20 years. Just recently I read where they are back in business so I got on the internet and ordered a pair from a supplier that I've used before. They looked the same and felt the same when I put them on but I couldn't find any "Made In Australia" notice, I went over the box and the boots with a fine tooth comb and finally found a tag inside the boots that read "Made In Indonesia" to say I was disappointed is an understatement, I very much doubt that they will be as good as they were.

If you're in Perth, Reeds had pairs of Munka boots for $50. I bought a pair and they've been comfortable as :perfect:

Gentlemen. May I Suggest you avail yourselves of these exquisitely crafted workboots?

Stylish & comfortable, with padded ankle support, platform & high heel to elevate oneself above the reach of snakes and burs. Sharp-pointed faux metal studs (actually ceramic), to assist one in defending their claim, should a bitch fight ensue.

I think Ramjet is the most likely to have a pair of those beauties

In this day and age of identity I wouldn't be surprised seeing them with some fishnet stockings to compliment  :argh:

Noob question. Be gentle.
I just bought some mid cut hiking boots at Aldi. $35 special buy this week. Got them home only to realise they had 2 metal lace hooks at the top. Back to Aldi to get a refund but not before testing them with the Gold Monster. They didnt seem to affect the machine at all unless you brought it right up to the boot.
I can understand steel caps being a problem right at the front of the shoe but are steel eyelets on the ankle really going to cause a problem? You dont really swing a detector near your feet.

I'm actually looking at going back and picking the boots up again and replacing the eyelets. The tool and eyelets are not expensive. Getting the old ones out might be a bit tricky.
They were pretty comfortable.

Metal lace hooks at the top of your boots probably won't be an issue with a Gold Monster, unless you're using it to scan your feet. 👣 With a more sensitive PI detector and bigger coils, it could be a different story.

Hey BD, I suggest you keep those boots from Aldi... they are good value if there’re comfy for you. As grubstake said, no problem with the GM.
