The rum version sounds pretty fierce, neat rum with an equal measure of raspberry syrup. No mixer. My grandfather had a pub in New England in the 30's and he told me of a similar drink popular then called a Mungindi shandy.

Molly Microbe sounds like punk rocker, but it was the pen name of a poet who published two poems in the Bulletin in 1912, one of which was called barmaid's blush.

The Barmaid's Blush "Oh, shades of crayfish and the midnight spud!", Molly Microbe , 1912 poetry
Appears in: The Bulletin , 11 April vol. 33 no. 1678 1912; (11)

I knew you'd get that one Pete.
A little extra info. Narromine to Bourke is 206 miles and only 6 curves.
Nevertire to Nyngan is 37 miles. Standing by the track at Nyngan We could tell when a train was leaving Nevertire because we could see the glow when the driver switched the headlights on.
Not only is the track straight, it's FLAT!
Gerilambone to Bourke is about 80 miles. After 2 small hills, you set the throttle about a third and just watch the scenery for next 70 odd miles.

Your turn Pete

Thanks Rod.

I suppose you could take a laptop assuming you had reception ,read a good history book,or just sit there looking

At all the feral goats ,that I would love to have a shot at ,apparently the cockies don't like them being shot as they are farming them.
A nice lean meat ,nice roasted or the older ones for a nice slow cooked Rogan Josh.

Now a question , give me a while to think of something.

Would it be Prime Minister Joseph Cook declaring on 5 August 1914 that "...when the Empire is at war, so also is Australia?"

Prior to that, each colony had its own military forces and sometimes a navy as well. They did participate in a range of military expeditions, including the Boer War, Boxer revolution and the Sudan in 1885. The earliest overseas deployments of colonial forces were in New Zealand in the Taranaki War (1861) and Invasion of the Waikato in 1863, although I don't think there was a formal declaration of war.
