Well done, Goldtruck, Whyalla is correct, SAs 3rd largest town, home to the Whyalla smelters which service ore from Iron Baron, Iron Duke, Iron Prince, Iron Knight and Iron Knob. was previously known as Hummock Hill until 1920. Water was barged in from Pt Pirie until the pipeline from the Murray was constructed. Whyalla also was home to ship building from the 1940s with the first corvette constructed named after the town

Over to you.

Thanks Manpa,

Gee I haven't played the History game for ages !!!

What is my name ?

I was a popular watering hole on the way to the diggings in the 1850's.
I was after the second toll gate and just short of the 3rd of only 3.

sounds like it should be the Diggers rest pub but alas no !! That was a haunt of mine for many years on the way home from the footy in Melbourne. Had many a pool game and beer there !!!
That was in between toll gate 2 and 3.

sorry mate but wrong again.
This place was steeped in a little more history than the Vic. But heck you are within 25 kms.
This place no longer exists but watered many a weary traveller en-route to the gold fields.

GT :)
