Wonderful player and lovely bloke gt. I'll see if i can come up with something that might have you eggheads baffled for a while. Back shortly

I was born in the early 1920s into a professional Melbourne family. I'm most famous for my writing about my lifelong passion, but i made something of a name for myself in the the arts field for illustrating and painting. My greatest achievement perhaps was surviving over 30 missions with the RAAF in world war 2 as a bomber pilot and being awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for bringing a severely crippled Lancaster bomber back from a raid over Nuremburg.

No reefer sorry, here's another clue. He lived the rest of his life in Tasmania after he came back from the war.

Sounds a lot like Ivan Southall, who was a prolific writer of children's books with a air theme, a bit like the Biggles series. However, he flew Sunderlands, and won his DFC for sinking a submarine.

My speciality was writing about fishing, and specifically flyfishing in Australia. I'm not widely known outside this area of expertise. I had roughly 7-8 books published in my lifetime and all were fishing related.

Staying with the theme from scrounger and its half time.

I was a copper ( from what I hear, useless) who became a celebrity fisherman on radio and TV.

Nice easy one. Check at 3/4 time to see if there are answers !!!

OK, new question later after the maggies have spifflicated the tiges. Yes gt, the only thing bigger than Rex is his ego

OK, here we go with a new question. I'm out detecting tomorrow so my apologies if i don't answer straight away. Happy for somebody else to take over with another question if they want.

I was born in Sydney but lived since the seventies in the US. I'm also a fisherman and have authored an angling book, but i'm better known for my association with the art world.
