Why not just swing the detector over it? If it is a body, the murderer may have got sloppy and forgotten to remove important clues - belt buckles, wedding rings, body piercings, amalgam fillings, embedded bullets etc.

You only have to watch CSI, Miss Marple or Poirot to know how many mistakes murderers make.

If the detector goes wild, best run. Or get a bigger scoop.
