Ran the detector over a meat ants nest, today, and got a pretty solid signal. What's the chances of the little blighters actually carting up a small nugget? Excitable little beggars, had me backpedalling in a hurry. I'd hate to disturb 'em by digging a hole. Seen nests, in days gone by, that people have dug into and wonder if it's really worth the grief? To self and to the ants.

Mozzie - 99.9% chance it is some stooge putting a piece of lead etc (.22, shotgun pellet, aluminium foil) down the ant's hole. The clowns do the same trick with rubbish down dead tree stumps that give off a signal at the base. If I ever hear of people who do this nonsense, its the last advice or kind word they ever get from me. It is not funny and the park rangers go off when they see nests that have been dug up and we all know the difference between ant-eaters digs and prospectors digs. My advice is to leave Mr Ant alone but a very valid question. Well done for erring on the side of caution.
