I had my first taste of looking for gold today , I had arranged to meet "yobskin" at deep creek and when I arrived "gcause" was there too ,he just happened to call in on his way down to Brisbane . the first thing I noticed was the leg protection both these guys wore and realising it was for snake encounters so I let them lead the way to the creek. I was taken by the peacefulness of the creek and yobs local knowledge was just great. yobs set up his sluice and grant showed me some panning tricks , but not much colour came our way today . we only stayed for a couple of hours , but what I learnt from these two blokes in that time was invaluable to me and I look forward to doing something similar again. I brought home a small bucket of material to practice my panning on and found it contained a lot of black sand and fools gold and precious little else ,thems the breaks .its nice to meet nice people , thanks Y and G ive had a good day , jack.

Thanx Jack your welcome to join me anytime.
The look on your faces was priceless! when i took off waist deep up the creek and made ya follow lmfao :D
Good to see a newbie getting dirty for his gold well atleast up to his nuts...lol ;)

I really didn't know what I was in for , i'll be better prepared next time , but by gee the fresh water is much nicer than the salt ,now..if only I could find some yellow stuff :) .

Hope you don't mind if i jump on your gympie thread Jack, I would have come close to meeting you myself. Was having a yarn with yobskin at the gate just before you were due to get there, then the call of the gold fever drew me down to the water.
Had a pretty dismal day for the yellow but the fates were a bit kinder to me today, got my first water worn nugget. Well, nugget might be a bit of a stretch but my first nice sized piece of smooth chunky gold none the less as well as a another very nice coarse piece to add to the collection and a good amount of the small stuff. I'm loving deep creek, it's gonna hurt to leave...

Hahaha good stuff adam welcome mate im glad you joined the forum this will help you so much. Your ability to sniff out the gold is impressive very jealous of your finds. Old Terry might join yet... :D
