This sucks. I had high hopes we would win and am saddened that my hobby will more than likely die out a lot earlier than I would have liked. Looks like the big guys and corporations get their way and the little guy gets stomped out. Again.
I'm pretty depressed about this, as this is one of the few things I really get excited about anymore.

P.S. How are you supposed to get the detected gold out of the ground without surface disturbance?
This world is stupid. You can quote me.

No that's not right.Jazz said:So you're not allowed to fossick on Crown land?
What's the point of a 'fossicking district' then?
From all of this, the only places you can legally fossick is State Forest with a permit (in certain areas) or on private land with permission of the owner. Is that about the extent of it?

You can still fossick/prospect on Crown Land. There isn't any change - You have always had to have consent from Crown Land Managers or lease/licence holder's. Unmanaged Crown Land would still be accessible.
Yes it's poorly written but it's not a change to anything in any way. We don't have the right to enter onto Crown Land without consent where required & never have had.Jazz said:mbasko said:No that's not right.

Geez I hope so, but the Government documentation seems pretty specific. The first sentence is self-contained and not leading on to the next one.

That means beaches are gone too. No detecting for your car keys if you lose them.
Prescribed crown land is any Crown Land under the Crown Lands Act.Jazz said:Thanks again mbasko, just saw your edit. What is the best way to determine if a parcel of land is in fact 'prescribed' land?
A poorly written "Guideline" will never trump a Legislative Act in court!Jemba said:I think what mbasko is saying is right,... but then I think how would it be read in a court of law???? Sandbagger mate ya better start making us some armour, or people could start supporting NAPFA.... That would also be a big help. :Y:

To find out the status of Crown Land i.e. unmanaged, managed, leased, under licence/permit/occupancy etc. you need to contact NSW Crown Lands
