Info find it funny how it states "put away you device and live life" yet it was posted on Facebook....a social media application.... Great poetry tho, and a very strong message also.

That's a sad story Gold Billyen, sorry for your loss. This forum I think though is totally different than anti-social media. Here we are encouraged to get off the couch, get out of our comfort zone, get out in the fresh air, meet up with other members, talk around a campfire. A lot of members are doing trips all the time and inspiring others to do the same.

I really don't understand why a 6 or 7 year old needs a smart phone, never will.......... I don't even know why a teenager thinks they needs one either..........

just a thort

some parents come home , talk to the kids for 3 minutes then watch 3 hours TV

reverse it

spend time feeding your kids minds

when we are old and grey , the stuff you feed the kids minds today will be the world you live it

they will make it based on what we feed their minds

from what i can see , our future world is going to be electronic warfare with people killing other humans with a click of a mouse button . . .

This^^

I have arguements with the Missus.
Why does our 15 year old son need a mobile...has had one since 12 year old.
She says, in case of emergency.
However, he always wants more credit....although emergencies have not occurred.

Free talk and text 6pm to 6am as well.....gets my goat.
On top...he goes and puts a password on the phone....Like hell.
Told him..."You have two options...remove password or the phone meets a hammer....my money...my rules"

So much trouble caused from the ease of communications for teenagers....electronic tool of trouble

Horse...sounds like we are in the same boat.

I laughed when you said... "although emergencies have not occurred."

The only emergencies that's happening is in slow motion. If there's a emergency, maybe give I should give him a flare gun? Then again, all his friends have a phone....so he'll be fine. THEN again...all phones have free 000. Hmmm.

My son also tried that password crap...lasted 30 mins.

He want to get a job so he can buy his own credit...I think he thinks he can do whatever he wants with the phone then...I'll let him get the job first before I break the bad news to him.

BTW...I sent the video to one of the schools vice-principles...I'd be fine if the whole school was marched into assembly and made to watch it.

It's almost one of those things that we can't live without but probably won't live for as long with (texting while driving or reading Facebook while crossing the road comes to mind). But anyway I thought the video was very well done and highlighted a few life points that deep down we already know but refuse to realise.

@ Gold Billyen, I had no idea mate, my condolences and I wish you and your son all the very best for the future. By the sounds of it you have your hands full at the moment but I bet you look forward to the days of sharing a beer with your young bloke as you reminisce about the good old days. I also think you did a wonderful thing in sending the video to the vice-principle, I hope it makes a positive difference in some way.

Life is precious and there's no denying that, enjoy every minute because you never know when it'll be your last.

Thanks Nugget,

Everyday gets a bit easier.
I want to thank you as I never would have bought my gold equipment and did the 2 gold trips with my son the past 2 months if it wasn't for this site. I never even heard of Tuena up until a few months ago.

There are other sites but, the foundation and the way the site is made and runs creates a solid community. Well, at lest that's how I feel. The knowledge I've gain from the site is incredible and I know everyone else agrees. I've been on many different forums in the past 15 years and only been on here a while and this is tops. Thanks.

Funny that we are knocking social media in this thread and YOU put the video up but, I'd have to say this site is one of the better example of how social media was designed to work. On ya!

Cheers mate, I'm glad things are getting easier for you as time goes on.

Thanks for the kind words also, it's always great to hear a bit of positive feedback, I really appreciate it.

I knew by posting the video I was being somewhat hypocritical, but hey what can you do
