anyone here that would like to chat one on one live or group that would be great for the forum. prospectingaustralia.com
just asking ;)

While it sounds like a great idea in theory, chat rooms can be detrimental to a forum as it's existence relies on new content being posted frequently. No new posts = no need to log into the forum as often = no need to keep the forum running.

Agree with you Mbasko, unnecessary with the forum setup.
Also would make life harder for our mods and would probably mean an extra mod or two to keep the trolls and such in check.
Just my opinion there, ultimately its up to Harry and the mod team.

Mate i love the idea.. instant chat and instant reply and a perfect way to get to know each other .
There will always be questions and subjects for the forum so i dont understand the opposition ?

I am happy to create a facebook group, members join and I create a group chat that will be live.

I agree GaryO. I really don't think sending members away from the forum will do the site any good.

i am a member of a couple of car forums, two different types of cars i will add, when facebook took off and the forums started a facebook group, one forum basically came to a stand still and the other has slowed down considerably, people on facebook want answers there and then and once the chat/post has run its course it fades into the unknown, having the forum the way it is is good cause you can always go back and find what you are looking for, i like PA the way it is now and i am not a big fan of live chat like others said it starts trouble sometimes but that is only my opinion

Going to a meet is live chat ;) and the PM system works well for the occasional directed question and discussion.

If the forum was phpBB, then a chat would be visible within the forum itself. They can sometimes work off IRC scripting but still would need administration for when things go silly, I've made / owned a few in the past. It does have its useful side and I understand why its wanted, I think I've even posted it before, but just means more to tend to in the end.
