Cynical bunch on here Mike.
In the above clip he quite clearly says that he has been keeping the find quiet for awhile & was using a Minelab detector & Nugget Finder coil which you can see in the clip is an older machine, not the GPZ7000. He also says that the find allowed him to upgrade to the state of the art GPZ7000.
The 9 news clip may have just got him out trying his newly upgraded toy but also shows the older machine on the ground near him while digging? People have jumped to conclusions that he was possibly helping Minelab in some elaborate lie to promote the GPZ but he is very clear in the above clip.
He's copped everthing on various forums from it's fake to the GPZ frame up. I reckon cut him a break - he comes across as a nice bloke with 4 kids. Good on him & I hope he milks whatever he can from it.

I don't think the ribbing was directed at the finder of this nugget. I agree with you on the comments above and he's got the gold and we haven't. However it is well known that when a large nugget is found, the promoters come out of the woodwork with their tee-shirts, caps, coils, detectors, gold buyers, etc. then the story gets bigger and bigger. The promoters pay the finder an amount of money for their goods to be involved in the story. When we, the public finally get to see the story unfold the new nugget literally comes out of the ground clean with logos all over it. When the story is partially or in many instances completely fabricated, then sold to the general public to be consumed. You should brace yourself for comment....
I applaud the prospector on his nugget and I am 100% envious of his find. If it was me in his shoes then I would have asked for more promotion money and I would have spent at least two days and three nights down a mine shaft retrieving the nugget before someone found me. :D
