Great advice and tips loamer, thanks for taking the time to write up your findings. I haven't used a sadie yet (as I have 4 small mono's already), but I'll add some results that may be of interest.
I was working an area known for very small rough gold. I first went over it with an 11" Mono & Fine-Gold on the 5000, found 1 bit. This was in a pine plantation area that had been harvested so there was lots of debris lying around, and lots of little spots that I couldn't poke my 11" mono in.
Came back next trip and put the 6" Goldstalker on, and found that I couldn't run Fine-Gold because it was zipping hotrocks all over the place, that the 11" mono wasn't seeing. So I flicked into Enhance and bingo, no more hotrocks and I got 2 nuggets.
This small coil/enhanced combo seemed to be the very ticket for this spot as it still gave enough sensitivity to the small nuggies, but minimal or no response on the hotrocks.
I then thought, hey I haven't used the 8" Commander here so why not. It also got another nugget. With the 8" I was switching between Enhance and Fine-Gold, but it was a windy day and the EMI was affecting Fine Gold more, so I ended up running Enhance with a slightly increased Rx Gain.
So Fine-Gold is definitely worth it, but on some occasions it can work against you, so a flick back to Enhance (4500 mode 8) is required.
