2x Earrings- could they be diamonds?

I found these at the beach when i was holidaying in QLD with my SD2200D.
Both earrings show corrosion on the metal which is green.

Both stones are quite large and having a guess i'd say they would be 1.25ct and 1.5ct

Who would be the best place/shop to take these to for identification? Jeweller? Porn broker?

They certainly look like diamonds, get a magnifying glass and see if there is an inscribed mark on them. there are several international standards, and for years the diamonds have grading marks. no mark does not mean that they are not diamond though. value depends on the cut and grading. the one on the left has less yellow, so could be more valuable. forget the pawnbroker, go to a reputable jeweller.

Haha I wish Tone..
Took them to a Jeweller this arv and he said that they had no value
I asked him how I could tell in the future and he said best to take them to him to get the nod.
Ah well.
Just happy the SD2200d is picking up tiny stuff and can be used as a coin/relic/earring detector seeing as though I'm at least 3 hours from the yellow.

Yesterday I actually found an earing with a diamond in it also

Im not really good at knowing if its real or not but I do know first way to be close to real, is if the earing i.e the stud itself is hall marked, no one would really put a real diamond on a bit of metal if it wasn't 925 Sterling or 9ct or 18ct gold etc, so that's a good start if its hall marked,,

Then next is to see if the diamond actually sparkles or if it has a rainbow effect, if it rainbow effects chances are its fake, if it sparkles well possibility it reals..

Im no expert but these are some tips that can help straight away when u find it to give u a little hope as I found out from an expert

Simple, just smash it with a hammer, if it shatters - glass, if it doesn't - diamond. Well at least that's what I thought as a teenager in dads workshop, hoeing into a small ring I found on the side of the road with a hammer. :lol:

Needless to say, never did find out, since it shattered the stone into oblivion! :/

The marks should be on the side, newer diamonds are laser inscribed. Check online for gradings and locations GIA is the most common grading system

hi D. that's what I have read too. makes sense. if you can afford a diamond,you would want to mount it properly. gold,white gold, mbe platinum.
still there is always an exception. the trendy up market beaches would be the go.

Oh mate don't be tied down to the popular beaches, Popular beaches just means more detectorist, so yeh higher chances of ppl loosing things but just means more competition..

What ive found is don't refuse to be adventurist and search other ones.. Ive actually found more searching on any beach I pass and are not popular by name

My saying is If its searchable then search it cause u just never know

I agree, I've found less in places with multi million dollar houses everywhere than the lesser known places too. I just don't think the mega rich lose much and they only carry credit cards these days too. If anyone can make carrying cash again as trendy as sipping a chai soy latte then the posh beaches will be back in business.

all their jewellery would be in the safe. yes, the good stuff can turn up in strange places,as I have noticed myself.
