Nice

Have heard of sheets of gold being rolled of Quartz reefs like aluminium foil. You could keep your camp oven stew hot for weeks if you found the source of that gold. ;)

I remember testing the GPX5000, I took it to a spot where I knew the wash was a bit deeper, so I strapped on the 18" mono. I was going along and got a nice faint signal, that just kept getting louder and sharper the deeper that I dug. All sorts of numbers going through my head...is it 10grams, is it 20 grams...geez maybe it's over an ounce! Finally out of the hole, and I get it in my hand, about the size of my thumbnail, but really thin, and unfortunately feels pretty light.

You can imagine my disappointment when I popped it on the scales at home - 0.7 grams!! :8

Same thing happened to me phasetech. First time I went out with the 14 I got a faint signal that started sounding really nice as I scraped off some dirt. Once I got it out is was a thin flat piece that I though was around a gram. I was all excited thinking I'd cracked the gram mark. Weighed it when I got home for .7g.

surely some of those flat pieced have come out the *** end of a battery... weird looking stuff mate
It looks hammered but its natural leaf gold. Only seen it from NQ & one bit from NSW. The ones I've seen have all had a "chevron" type pattern on them too & look like its been man made/imprinted.
Unusual stuff & I have seen it for sale at a higher premium for the patterned stuff & also in crystalline form or having crystalline inclusions. Advertised as either leaf or plate gold.

I think it was formed during volcanic activity - extruded under pressure. I may be corrected by someone more geologically minded but I do know that the bit from NSW was found on a volcanic field with a lot of basalt cobbles which is also an extrusive igneous rock formed on land from lava flows.

my uncle got a gold leaf piece up that way hit it right in the middle and smashed it to about 9 pieces, total weight was 187 grams. ive seen alot of the gold thats come out of western creek too and its mostly in the quartz and there's stamped tailing piles everywhere apparently so i assumed it was flattened.

its magazine stuff, ill have to go get some of my own :)

Spent a few weeks northern WA, mostly looking in new areas for the ever elusive patch without any luck. Managed to scavenge these from hammered areas, covers fuel plus.
Hope the pic works :) . Largest is 2.8g and smallest .05g.

Absolutely stoked for you mate! Well done!
Nice one GD. I've got a mate that's gonna be in maryborough on Monday and I was gonna add the elite to the collection but they won't have them till mid week. Might wait to see how the evolution compares to it now. The camo is cool but the orange is just like my KTM haha.
Have to sell the advantage coil as these newies really do seem a cut above!

Mbasko 0.07 mate :) got a mate to swing his at gold over it he couldnt hear a thing. Was about 5 inches down. Solid gold signal very slowly learning to pin point with it.

Walshie the nf isnt going to be orange that was prototype plastic :) its grey mate. Why not get the nf you do well enought as it is :)
