I thought she looked happy enough there sharing her dinner with Taz.... so I gave my brother a call. I told him I'd found a little patch that gave us a few grams and promised to give a bit more.

He drove all the way from Busselton non stop armed with his SDC2300 and the new GPX7000. Well to be fair I pointed out where Mrs M had been working and told him to stay clear of that little spot. We arrived at night and got out at daybreak for what looked like being a glorious day.

I was a bit put out when he pulled out the first little nugget with his SDC. All I had by this point was a bag of rusty nails and the odd bit of flat rust that sounded good before I got to see it.

By morning tea time I had nearly 3.5g and he still had the one so I was happy to head off and leave him to it. Mrs M was in Geraldton hospital so I had to go and drop some things in Cue and pick up some things we needed. The temperature was rising to a point where I felt more comfortable behind the AC vents than swinging the detector. Merv gave up about the same time and sat in the shade but he reckons the temperature must have been near 50C by mid afternoon.

When I got back Merv was still looking for his second. It was too late at night to detect so we got an early start again in the morning. I ended up with better than 8g although some have a bit of rock attached and Merv ended the trip with three little nuggets from the SDC for about 1.5g. That GPX7000 is still new :)

By lunchtime the temperature was unbearable so I headed back to Geraldton and Merv took on the long drive home to Busselton. At least he had a bit of gold to show where he'd been ;)

sold mine a cuppla weeks ago doug, that one belongs to a bloke i know, lieber about d7 size, real nice older unit, mid 80s model, back when we were in our prime.

Got myself a PB nugget so far, after digging a foot deep for a chunk of steel and breathing a bit heavy, got the 5.6gram nugget only a few meters away at about 10-12 inches down. A while later got the smaller 1 grammer, both found at Inglewood.Im very happy with the GPX5000 with the 15x12 commander attached.Found heaps of rust and junk but I wont bore you all with those pics. :D
