Geez boys ...... Trying to have a sleep in after a big one dayer yesterday. Yeah I'm getting old and soft.
Yep, finally cracked the 1g mark. Yahoo!
Also dug a lot of 22 bullets, shot gun pellets and one musket ball, or I think that is what it is. Think I got the history of bullets for the last 150 years.
The musket ball was a real good signal. The spot had vertically compressed decomposing clay on 3 parts of the hole, silt on the other quarter and badly decayed remnants of a tree root that pulled straight out. Thought the signal was coming from the clay and not silt so was super excited. Even got the camera out and filmed it. It was deep but unfortunately the musket ball was in the silt. There goes a good half hour and a litre of sweat.
There was so much trash I put the 11" DD coil on for an hour with discrimination but didn't like it at all. Had to wind the gain back from 13 to 9 for stability and put up with a lot of erratic behaviour of initial target scream followed by a blank, and just erratic half blanking. Depth was significantly less. Wasn't at all confident with it and thought I may have been missing targets, even though it picked up 22 bullets and lead clearly. Switched backed to the 11" mono and felt much more confident as I know the sounds better.
5g is now the target. Cheers Dignit
