Got out to creswick this morning for a few hours, Ive been following float gold up this gully for about 2 kms now, I nearly gave up on itdue to so much material being washed in from the flood but today Ifound a nice little crevis in the wall of a crevis right near the bend it was full of mud and these pickers. Came in at just on 0.84 g all up very happy with that for 2 hours digging, cant wait to continue up steam, I saw two quarts veins crumbled and intersecting the slate running across the creek.

did you run a detector over the quartz vein that crosses the creek and / or give it a hit with a 6 foot bar to pull out a few chunks to see if there is any nuggies down deeper ?

i didnt get out for a couple of weeks . you guys keep this up and i will be getting the polishing brush on to my best pair of gumboots

itching in my socks i tells ya :p

well done . love to look at those chunky nuggies

na havent taken the detector out there yrt headups today was the first decent pickers ive found in the stretch. I went back this arvo and picjed up four pieced coming in at .42 so 1.25 fir this crevis will head back tommirriw with the gmt to have a play.

Well done GOLDdigg,
You're right about it being the most prospected area in the district, if not the state even so it's a pleasant area and usually produces something ........ and provides lots of opportunity for a chat with the hoards that camp there every weekend.
I get out there reasonably often, son & DIL live nearby, knowing it's been so bashed about that not even the gold knows where it should be.
Working on some research of the area for a non gold outing, might catch up to see your highbanker in action sometime, or somewhere else if you don't use it there, classifying and sluicing is fine for relaxation but my results become embarrassing when the wife sees some of the other results.
Cheers Tom

Thanks all for comments. Yes, I am very lucky having access to 5km of ephemeral creek on private property. Have found colour almost the full length, although for the most part it is flour gold, with just the one or two spots yielding pickers. But I enjoy just getting out there most weekends to escape the rat race, and prospect in solitude.

This creek was prospected back in the 1850's although I think there were only a couple of hundred diggers, and for the most part they looked for just the quick pickings before moving onto other fields. Here are some images of my creek - so much promising ground to cover that I could be there for the rest of my life.

I have found colour at all these locations, but the last spot is my favourite.

Great pics mate....a systematic approach will serve you well. Look forward to seeing the pics and stories as they unfold for you. Best of luck out there,

Cheers Wal.

I'd have to agree, seems like every time you find the gold line a flood comes through and moved it again :) let me know if your heading down this way sometime and we can have a dig :)

It must be great being able to leave your gear there if you want for next time :)

Is this area in the Lachlan Fold Belt by any chance? sorry I dont know NSW that well, looking at your photos looks like granite i'd say you've got plenty of ground to cover :) good luck

Yep, very convenient being able to leave gear in situ ... and to camp where I prospect. Yes, this area is in the LFB - Trunkey/Abercrombie.

second what Tone said, from what i've read over a lot of gold has come out of the ground there but mostly from under the granite, might ahve to go hard rock style :)

Well did get out today after watching gold rush last night :) Tuena had no prospectors, no HBs running anywhere - like a ghost town.

Couple of shots from today's effort ( dry gully of black cat creek)

Thats a nice gold Joe. I cought up with XIV this afternoon and had a high banker session for couple of hours. We only found little bit but good excercise. :D

Great bit of gold there Joe and to have Tuena all to yourself doesn't happen often mate. That spot looks like it deserves some serious attention. Good luck on the next run out there.

Cheers Wal.
