very new to all this any advise will be much appreciated

Have to say that's a great job panning the fine stuff down. I am having issues seperating the heavy concentrate and fine gold ATM.

    Worth chasing ?

Got a bit more in the last part of the bucket than the first part. Probably less than 10 kg of stone. Must have been because I grabbed the best looking stones first hence being in the bottom before getting lazy and being less picky about what I picked up. All super fine stuff but a good amount I...

    Worth chasing ?

A rake might work well. Bit hard to access the location with a vehicle. Have finished crushing last of the sample bucket but ran out of dy light. Will pan it out tomorrow after work and post results.

    Worth chasing ?

That's okay. Have been over it with the monster. But for this super fine stuff scattered on the surface recognising the type of stone and a little hammer mill seems to be the go.

    Worth chasing ?

I might go back for more. Currently processing the second half of bucket.

    Worth chasing ?

I think its stuff the old timers may have spilt or broke off while heaping ore from anouther location. Can't locate any nearby reef or source but have found amalgam nearby which contained gold and various old machine parts. There would be a few ton of it laying around spread over a couple of...

    Worth chasing ?

Found this in half a bucket of likely looking small stones on the surface the rains had washed out recently. Worth chasing ? Probably lost a fair bit because not used to panning out the really fine stuff.

Hey y'all what do I have here?

I find steel shards like that where the blades gone over rocks. Gold monster loves them.

    Axiom or 4500 ?

Thanks for your input. Finding good gold at the moment others are throwing away but would like to move onto more mineralised ground. Meant to say had a play on the axiom in my previous post. Have owned a 2100 many years ago.

    Axiom or 4500 ?

Can't justify a 6000 or gpz 7000. So looking Axiom lite or used 4500 and coils ? For to play with an Axiom the other day. Currently have a gold monster and found a few bits with it but looking at getting a PI machine.

What minerals are in this ?

    Thanks. I will try that.

What minerals are in this ?

Pretty rock. What does it look like to you ? Found near isolated quartz reef but not near one that had any gold according to maps. Copper ore ?

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

Some more bits from some likely looking hot rocks/ore. Like to know where it's coming from.

Beware cheap Chinese Minelab GPX & GPZ lookalikes (2024)!

It's a laugh but makes me worried how many people have actually been ripped off. I mean if you bought one you would probably be too embarrassed to admit it and then there are the people who know little about detectors buying one for someone else thinking it's a good deal.

    ⭐ Gold Detecting Show'n Tell

Found some more bits of gold inside lumps of iron stone just now. Don't ignore the hot rocks.

Ants and man involved with gold recovery.

As a non entomologist but some one who has always taken an interest in insects and their social structures I believe ants often collect small pieces of gold and other heavy minerals to built there nests out of as the higher specific gravity prevents them being washed away in the wet. The thermal...

    2nd and 3rd bit

Found a couple more little bits with the gold monster the 3rd bit it the most interesting though. Found an iron stone rock with a back forward signal next to another detectors back filled hole. Crushed it and found the little iron stoney nugget inside. The other gold is from multiple outings...

    That first bit

Found my first bit of gold with a the gold monster or any detector for that matter the other day. Usually get frustrated and go back to panning. Using a small coil in very trashy ground thought it was just another bb with an extra weak signal. Turned out to be a very tiny piece of gold.

    Beginners gear

I began with a bent screw driver, couple of buckets, gold pan and a spoon. Didnt get rich certainly but had loads of fun. Even if good detectors have been over a creek bed doesnt mean all the chunky shallow gold has gone. Some wont beep until out of the surrounding rock like these guys.
